The House of Representatives Thursday urged the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar and Chief of Army staff, Maj. Gen. Kenneth Minimah to urgently despatch soldiers to Benue state to curb the incessant attack on villages across the state by Fulani herdsmen.
Hon. Benjamin Aboho, who moved a motion of urgent national importance, informed the House that the violence occasioned by the herdsmen has spread to the neighbouring states of Nasarawa and Plateau, thereby constituting threat to national security.
According to him, since April last year, some villages in the Moon council ward of Kwande local government area of Benue state have been under siege by herdsmen who killed many people and destroyed property worth millions of naira.
