Nigerians have had to weigh their options, with some seeking alternatives, following the recent report of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration failing to pay special allowance to security operatives attached to the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

According to the report, the development is causing dissatisfaction among the security personnel. Prior to when the present administration came into power, all the security agents at the Villa under former President Goodluck Jonathan enjoyed the allowance up until March, 2015, while his administration left those of April and May, 2015, unpaid.
Some Nigerians have aired their views on the rather controversial issue, below are their thoughts.
Stanley Nnabuagha said: “Some say I rely on luck, but was it luck that got rid of fuel queues, revived our textile industries, rescued our banking sector, ensured total radar coverage for Nigeria, is reviving our rail infrastructure or expanded the economy by over 8% making Nigeria the 4th fastest growing economy in the world? Those are the result of hard work. Only hard work can make Nigeria work – GEJ”
Onyebuchi Nwafor said: “We’re missing you the immediate past president, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan,the one and only true democratic president this country ever had, the silent achiever.”
Irem Kelechi attempted hitting President Buhari and the APC below that belt with his statement. He said: “And he said he is not a one chance president? Keep promising Nigerians. All promises cancelled (APC).”
According to Emmanuel Tom, “Those who voted for Buhari, have more now to regret”.
However, some other Nigerians did not see the situation as one that should be yardstick for comparing Jonathan and Buhari.
Some even went as much as sighting the trending issue of the missing Chibok girls that were abducted about 2-years ago. They claimed that the incident occurred under the watch of Jonathan and as reports have it, it was a lack of interest on the part of the immediate past administration that made the situation linger this long.
The present APC government still has some time to prove themselves worthy of the votes that brought them into power, do you think they would deliver? Would they out-perform the PDP administration that had been in power for about 16 years?

President Muhammadu Buhari’s popularity seem to be waning as a group hitherto known for supporting his government, yesterday, April 15, accused the government of derailing from its original visions.
Some of the supporters who made their opinion known at a town hall meeting organised by Change Vigilantes, a pro-Buhari group, in Lagos, urged the government to reverse itself from the wrong direction.
Time running pout for President Buhari?
According to The Guardian, speakers at the event identified corruption, epileptic power supply, unemployment, bad economy, as the major issues after almost one year of the Buhari administration.
Leader of the of group, Dr Ope Banwo stated that the president should not be allowed to fall into the same situation his predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan fell into when his supporters refrained from telling him the truth.
Banwo said: ”I am one of those people spending their money and energy fighting for Buhari’s government, right now am not happy with the direction the country is taking in different areas.”
”They say those who do not learn from history are bound to repeat the mistakes of history. So the government must learn from the mistakes of the previous administration.
”One of those things that led to the downfall of the Jonathan’s administration was that those who sincerely believed in the government never told the former president the truth until it was too late, and that is one of the things we are determined will never happen with the change government.
”I do not need to prove my commitment to the Buhari government because I have been a die-hard Buharist even before the election, touring places to ensure the success of the president at the election.
”We felt that the government is losing direction. So, as part of my own way to make sure the government never derail from its change mantra, we continue to call on the government, spending our resources to make sure he is on the right track.”
Speaking on unemployment in the country, Banwo said: ”The government is doing well, but the government performance on employment is poor. The president must be reminded that he promised 740,000 jobs in first year, but we got more than 740,000 layoffs.”
During her contribution, founder, Consumer Advocacy Foundation of Nigeria (CAFON) Mrs Sola Salako said: ”I would rate the government as being fair, but after one year, we are not where we are expected to be.”
Meanwhile, as Nigerians continue to groan under harsh economic conditions, President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that his trip to China yielded about $6 billion investment for Nigeria.
The president posited that his one-week trip would positively impact on key sectors of the Nigerian economy including power, solid minerals, agriculture, housing and rail transportation.
In a related development, a report surfaced in the media earlier today chronicling how churches are experiencing financial downturn as Nigeria’s economic crisis bites harder across the nation.
The report stated that members have now turned to their church leaders for financial support towards feeding, accommodation and children’s tuition.

In the middle of the night, the 33-year-old dad opened his young daughter’s door. But what the hell! A massive man stood over her bed.

Slater’s family is asking the court to charge the father who acted in defense of his daughter. So the cops upgraded Batterham’s charge from “grievous bodily harm” to murder.
Slater’s mom, Beryl Dickinson, said that because of Batterham, her three grandchildren were left without a father.
“They’ve lost their father, their beautiful father that they haven’t seen for years because he was in jail, which has nothing to do with this case,” Dickson told. “Just to think those little kids are going to grow up without a dad now.”

NDLEA arrests woman for smuggling 86 pellets of cocaine

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 41-year-old Dorothy Onyekasi who faked pregnancy with 86 pellets of cocaine.
Premium Times reports that the mother of three was apprehended at the Lagos airport during the inward screening of passengers on an Emirates flight from Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
According to a statement issued by the anti-drug agency on Saturday, April 16, the cocaine has a total weight of 1.720 kilogrammes with an estimated street value of N20.6 million.
Commenting on the incident, Ahmadu Garba, the NDLEA commander at the Lagos airport, noted that the wraps of cocaine could have been easily mistaken for pregnancy.
“It was discovered that the suspect kept 86 wraps of cocaine inside a waist bag which was tied to her stomach.
“Unfortunately, the drug was detected by NDLEA officers on her arrival from Dubai. The drug was immediately packed and weighed in her presence,” he said.
The cocaine has a total weight of 1.720 kilogrammes with an estimated street value of N20.6 million.
Meanwhile, the suspect insisted that her involvement in drug trafficking was a mistake.
“I am separated from my husband who left me with three children. I used to import female bags and shoes from Dubai. My involvement in drug trafficking is a mistake and I take responsibility for my action.
“I travelled to Dubai to buy my goods. While I was preparing to return, I met a man in Dubai who gave me the drug and promised to give me enough money to expand my business. He also told me that when I get to Nigeria, he will call his partner to collect the drug and give me my money,” she said.
Muhammed Abdallah, the chairman of the NDLEA, revealed that in the past few days the agency has recorded numerous arrests and drug seizures at the Lagos airport.
“The drug cartels have also suffered huge losses from these operations. This particular suspect faked pregnancy with wraps of cocaine but she was caught by vigilant narcotic agents.
“Some of the suspects recently apprehended concealed drugs in their socks and luggage while others ingested wraps of cocaine in disregard of the danger to their health. In spite of their craftiness, we are daily stopping them from perpetrating their criminal act and forcing them to a retreat,” he said.
Earlier this week, the NDLEA recovered 193 wraps of cocaine inside a passenger’s socks at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
A drug smuggler was detained by vigilant airport workers before he boarded the plane.
Nigerian Armed forces establish camp for repentant Boko Haram members
Rabe Abubakar said that the military authorities had not disclosed where the camp was located for security reasons.
The Armed Forces have reportedly opened a camp for repentant members of the Boko Haram Sect.
Speaking with the Punch on Saturday, April 16, Colonel Rabe Abubakar, the acting director of the defence information, said that the military authorities had not disclosed where the camp was located for security reasons.
He noted that the military expect that more insurgents would surrender when they discovered the way those in the camp were being treated.
“Definitely, the camp is there, and we are working round the clock to fix everything, and all what is required will be there and then we will move

As a way of finding solutions to the current currency slump in Nigeria, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Ltd (ICBC) and Nigeria’s Central Bank have signed a deal on Yuan transactions. Recently, many Nigerians have found it exceedingly difficult to pay for services like education and healthcare in other countries, due to the weak Naira, and this deal is an attempt to resuscitate the currency.
Reuters reports that the director general of the African affairs department of China’s foreign ministry, Lin Songtian, said the deal meant the Yuan will flow freely around Nigerian banks and will even be included in the country’s foreign exchange reserves. This deal is one of the outcomes of the meetings between Presidents Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria and Xi Jinping of China, during the Nigeria-China Business/Investment Forum in Beijing, China.
Aside from the financial investments China has made in agriculture and infrastructure in Nigeria, the deal will provide a way for both countries to settle trade agreements in the Yuan. It appears that President Buhari is determined to transform Nigeria into an exporting country as opposed to a primarily consuming one, saying it is high time the country started exporting to China.
However, this is the not the first time Nigeria has made attempts to include the Yuan into its foreign exchange reserves.
In 2011, under the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria at the time, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, a small percentage of the country’s foreign reserves were in the Chinese Yuan. At the time, Nigeria’s $32 billion in reserves were 79 percent in dollars with the rest largely held in Euros and Swiss francs.
Bloomberg reports that Sanusi was cited saying the decision came because the Nigerian financial sector had a lot of confidence in the Chinese currency. “Confidence in China doesn’t mean lack of confidence in America. Europe and America will continue to be important parts of the world. Having said that, it will be almost living in a dream world to ignore China. It’s the second-largest economy in the world and it’s well managed,” Sanusi said.
In 2014, Central Bank’s deputy governor, Kingsley Moghalu, said the bank was looking to increase the percentage of Yuan foreign reserves in its possession from 2 percent to 7 percent. According to him, 85 percent of its foreign reserves were in dollars and it needed to have more in Chinese Yuan, as the country was taking a more important place in global trade. “It was clear to us that the future of international economics and trade will shift in large part to business with and by China. Ultimately the renminbi (Yuan) is likely to become a global convertible currency,” Moghalu said.
Now, the question is, will this integration of the Yuan help to shore up the Naira as intended by the president? The answer lies in the tentative decision that African countries are taking to dump the US Dollar as the prevailing currency in their foreign reserves. Since 2014, the world market has recognised the Yuan as a likely global reserve currency, a replacement for the dollar, which has led countries like Ghana, South Africa and Zimbabwe to integrate the renminbi (Yuan) into their financial markets. As a result of this, trade (however imbalanced) has increased between certain countries on the continent and China, as well as providing a fertile ground for demand for the currency on the continent.

Serious row in House of Reps: Lawmakers move against Dogara, others
There is fresh row in the House of Representatives as members lambast the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, and demanded the resignation of the chairman of the house committee on appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin.
The Nation reports that members are furious that Jibrin influenced the allocation of projects worth N4.169billion to his constituency outside what was budgeted by the executive in the 2016 appropriation bill.
The members also frowned and opposed allocation of N40billion (at N20b apiece) to those in the leadership of both the Senate and the lower chamber.
They specifically faulted the concession of projects of over N3billion to the Dogara out of the N20billion for the House leadership.
It was gathered that the lawmaker while shouting on top their voice demanded that the house should shun old practice of personalising budget. When the speaker observed that the plenary is almost turning into a protest, he quickly called for an executive session between him and his principal officers.
It was further gathered that the executive session commenced around 11.30am on a gloomy mood as the speaker sued for peace from aggrieved members.
"After initial courtesies, the Speaker hit the point by claiming that everything being said about the budget remains hearsay because the Executive has not returned the Appropriation Bill. He quickly added a caveat by urging members to avoid anything which could affect the unity of the House," a source at the session said.
Speaking in synchronization with the speaker's plea, Monguno (Borno) pleaded with the lawmakers to "wait for reactions until the budget is returned."
A source hinted that the speaker's plea was not accepted by the lawmakers who raised issues on the controversy surrounding the budget.
It was gathered that the lawmakers that spoke at the session comprised Nnana (Imo); Aliyu Sani Madaki (Kano); Prof. Mojeed Alabi (Osun); Douye Diri (Bayelsa) and comrade Phillip Shuaibu (Edo).
"Most members were not persuaded by attempts by Jibrin to incite them against the Executive. They rose up and started shouting at Jibrin for not doing a diligent job. Some asked him whether it was the Executive that asked him to allocate huge projects to his constituency when there was no provision for these in the proposals of the Executive. Many were yelling and demanding Jibrin's immediate resignation for the ineffective manner the Appropriation Committee handled the budget. Even when the Speaker called for calm, they shouted that they "cannot defend the indefensible in the press because Nigerians are angry against the National Assembly for playing politics with the budget," a top ranking lawmaker said.
Another lawmaker from the South-West said: "At the Executive session, members asked the leadership about the N40billion projects allocated to the principal officers of the Senate and the House. Each of the leadership of the two chambers will share N20billion projects. Members queried why N3billion projects have been allocated to the Speaker and why Jibrin favoured his constituency with N4.169billion projects. The leadership said the N20b projects were captured under zonal intervention as it had been since 1999 but members said if others were doing it in the past, it should not be now."

Parents identify 7 Chibok daughters in new Boko Haram video
The girls – all dressed in full length, black robes – state their names, their school and where they are from
Rifkatu Ayuba, Mary Ishaya and Yana Galang were invited to the viewing centre in Maiduguri by the chairman of Chibok Local Government Area, Bana Lawan. Seven girls have been identified so far, however, local officials said more identifications needed.
In a video obtained by CNN news channel 15 girls are heard saying they studied in the Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok and beg the government to cooperate with militants to bring them back home. The girls spoke in Hausa and Kibaku, the local Chibok language.
"The girls were looking very, very well. They were definitely our daughters… All we want is for the government to bring back our girls," Mrs Galang said in a telephone interview with the Thomson Reuters Foundation after viewing the video.
Reacting to the new development senator Shehu Sani and former negotiator on the girls' release found the video credible and advised Boko Haram insurgents to embrace dialogue.
In an interview with CNN on Wednesday he said: "Negotiation will make it possible for these girls to be brought back home alive. What has always been the problem in the last few years has been the very fact there are scam negotiators, who most times make claims and don't deliver.
And I think this is what we must be very careful of at this time. The very fact that we can get such a credible video from some sources and those sources are elements that need to be utilised to be able to achieve the goal of getting these girls out. When President Muhammadu Buhari took over, a section of our country was taken over by the insurgence group.
They hosted their flags and even unleashed their version of theocratic Islamic group. But now, with funding for the military and support by the government, the morale is high, the military had been able to push them back and most of the cities in the North-East are safe.

With the very fact that now, they know clearly they cannot win militarily and the only option is to go for other ways. The video is believed to have been made last December as part of the discussions between the government and the extremist group. It is the first footage of the girls to be seen since May 2014. Their whereabouts are yet to be established.
According to Amnesty International about 2,000 girls and boys have been abducted by the Boko Haram since 2014, with many used as sex slaves, fighters and suicide bombers.
We Disguised As Patients To Rob Hospitals –suspects
Police detectives in Lagos State have smashed a gang which specialised in posing as patients to get access into hospitals and rob genuine patients and staff. The suspects, Babatunde Bamidele (25) and Muritala Balogun (27), were arrested at Ajangbadi area of the state on Wednesday, moments after they robbed a hospital.
Revealing their modus operandi, Bamidele said: "Before we go out on operation, we would dress the body of one of our members with bandage. When we get to the gate of the prospective hospital, the supposed 'sick person' would start crying loudly.
Others would start calling for emergency. Immediately we are allowed into the hospital, we would whip out our guns and rob the patients. We would rob them of money and other valuables. We don't kill people.
We only collect money and phones." The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, said the suspects used to pretend they were patients to gain access into the hospital to rob genuine patients of their valuables.
Bamidele confessed that he was introduced to the robbery gang by Ahmed, now at large. He said: "I used to pick pocket until I met Ahmed. He advised me to abandon that. He said it was not profitable.
Before I started going out with them, they trained me for a week." Recalling how the gang met its waterloo, Bamidele said they had just robbed patients and were racing to leave the scene when they ran into a police patrol van. He added:
"The policemen were on patrol when they heard shouts of thief coming from the direction of the hospital. They ran after us.
Ahmed and others escaped. Muritala and I were arrested. "Since I joined the gang, we have robbed about five different hospitals at Ajangbadi, Shibiri and other parts of the community. I regret my actions.
My parents must not hear I was arrested for armed robbery." Narrating his own side of the story, Balogun said he was tricked into going with the gang to rob patients. He said: "I was also into pick pocket until I met Ahmed.
I was at home when Ahmed called me. He said I should go with them to visit a friend at the hospital. I obliged. We both went to the hospital. When we got to the hospital, I was surprised to hear Bamidele scream like he was in pains. Ahmed and others called for emergency.

Nigeria's Spends $1.8billion On Fuel Imports Quarterly
The Nigerian National Petroleum Cooperation (NNPC) Wednesday disclosed that it cost the country about $1.8billion per quarter to import fuel.
Chief Executive Officer (Upstream), Bello Rabiu, told journalists during a press briefing at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, that it cost the country $600billion to import fuel every month.
"Spending on imports rely on two things: Volume and the price. As we speak today, a cargo of product of about 40 million liters will cause about 13 to 14 million dollars.
"And we need about 45 to 50 million liters to satisfy the country depending on the time and the condition of the country. So, if you assume that about 16 million dollars per day, it can also go up to 20 million dollars depending on the price.
"It means you need 20 million dollars multiplied by 90 days for a quarter. That is $1.8 billion. So, this amount is required to import the country's fuel requirement for one-quarter. Every month, we need $600 million to import fuel. So, we need $1.8 billion to import the country's requirement for one-quarter" he said.
Rabiu who led a management team of the Cooperation made the disclosure while giving an update on government's efforts to end the persistent fuel scarcity in the country.
He said the corporation plans to saturate the market with more petrol than Nigerian's can consume to end the scarcity adding that as at Yesterday (Wednesday) five vessels discharged products in various parts of the country.
Flanked by the Chief Operating Officer (Downstream), Henry Nkem-Obi; Chief Operating Officer (Refineries); Anibo Kragha and Group General Manager (Public Affairs), Garden Mohammed, Rabiu said five vessels discharged products in various parts of the country.
Private importers were also discharging at least 120million liters of their products to complement NNPC imports, he said adding that there was a delay in the circulation of the products across the country because they had to be trucked as the pipelines in the country were still not in good condition.
Rabiu said: "The plan going forward from today, we want to make sure that we give more than what is required in the whole country. The total requirement of the country is just about 1,300 trucks but our plan is to make at least 1,500 available everyday until this thing clears up.
"So, we want to make sure that we saturate the market in a very short time and I think you can see clearly now that Lagos is almost cleared and Abuja is getting better. Other places will follow."
He said 12 cargoes of fuel ordered by the corporation online were expected to be on Nigerian waters by next week to meet the demand and supply balance adding that the NNPC is also working to ensure that private importers who have approvals to import get foreign exchange cover to bring in the cargoes on time.
According to him, the corporation knows what each state needs and the demand would be met. "we just want to ensure this thing happen and quickly too," he said.
Apologising for the fuel scarcity on behalf of the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu and the NNPC, Rabiu assured that this magnitude of scarcity would never repeat itself as the

Man Arrested For Raping His Wife's Sister For Years In Lagos
The Lagos state police command have arrested 36 years old Imeh Akpan, for allegedly raping his wife's 15 years old sister, for 10 years. Parading Imeh before newsmen at the state police command in Ikeja today April 13th, the state police commissioner, Fatai Owoseni, said
"The teenager has been living with him since she was small. He started raping her when she was five-year-old. She lives with him and his wife, who's her step-sister and he has been defiling her since then. But he was eventually caught at the weekend after the girl ran out of the house and was rescued by some policemen".
When interrogated, the victim whose name was not disclosed, said her sister's husband who she refers to as Daddy, raped her last Sunday
"My daddy (suspect) raped me because my mummy travelled to Akwa Ibom last Wednesday. I was sleeping on Sunday, around 10pm, my daddy came and removed my clothes and slept with me. He used the towel to cover my eye and my mouth but I was still shouting and crying. He said nobody will come and help me. So, I ran out of the house when i got chance. After I ran out, I begged my neighbour to give me phone to talk to my mummy (half sister) and he said there is no credit in his phone. So, I ran towards the police station at the roundabout. On my way there, I saw one man who asked me where I was going. I told him everything and the man said he will take me to police station and to human right. So, he now took me to hotel that I should come and sleep in hotel till morning before he will take me to the station. I followed the man and I now said I cannot sleep with him inside the hotel. When I wanted to close my eyes, I was now seeing the man as if his hand was touching me in my dream. I could not close my eyes. Around 3am, I told the man I want to go and ease myself and he allowed me. The man now said since I want to go and report everything at police station that he will use his own money and that the money will be N50, 000, that I should do him a favour and enter the room. I did but the man wanted To Molest me also and I shouted before the owner of the hotel came and opened the door. That was how I ran outside. As I was walking on the road, policemen saw me and I told them everything and they called one Okada man to take me to Lion Building. He has slept with me two times. The first time was last year. I told my mummy everything when she came back from church because my daddy told her that I ran out of the house. When I told her, she believed me but when my uncle now denied, he claimed that I left the door open and someone entered the house" she said

"She is like my daughter and it is an abomination for me to sleep with her. I have been the one training her since she was a baby. I was drunk and I did not know anything. It was the police that invited me and told me I raped her. I did not even know. It is only this once I have done it. I do not know what came over me," he said.
The police say he will soon be charged to court.

Nigerian Failed Budget: Abdulmumin Jibrin Allocates N4.1b Projects To His Constituency
At least 80 road projects amounting to N40bn were inserted into the 2016 budget at the National Assembly, sources told our correspondent yesterday.
There have been controversies over the removal of the N60bn Lagos-Calabar rail project and others from the 2016 budget by the lawmakers.
Sources told Daily Trust that the lawmakers at both chambers removed some of the projects included in the budget submitted by the executive and replaced them with new ones.
It was gathered that the chairman of the House of Representatives committee on appropriation, Rep Abdulmumin Jibrin, allocated projects worth N4.169 billion to his constituency in the budget.
Details of the budget seen by Daily Trust yesterday indicated that Jibrin alone allocated 22 projects worth N4.169bn to Kiru/Bebeji, his federal constituency. It was gathered that the projects allocated to the lawmaker's federal constituency are outside the usual constituency projects captured in the budget.
A senator told our correspondent on condition of anonymity, that the projects were included during budget defence and that they had since scaled through.
"In works alone, 80 road projects that were not in the budget submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari were included. These projects were injected into the budget by the works committee," he said.
According to him, each of the projects cost about N500m and the senators included them in the budget to attract projects to their constituencies.
"The roads were distributed to the senators' constituencies. It was while the committee was trying to address the lopsidedness in the distribution of road projects that the roads got into the budget.
"You know in the initial budget submitted by the president, there was gross imbalance in the distribution of road projects. It was while balancing this that they introduced new 80 road projects," he said.
The senator said each of the committees introduced new projects into the budget and they had since scaled through. He listed the affected committees to include agriculture, water resources, health, education and rural development.
He said it would be unfair to single out the chairmen of the Appropriation Committees of both chambers.
"It is a common thing during budget processes at the National Assembly. All chairmen and vice chairmen of committees are involved, especially popular committees. This has been the practice as such there is nothing new about this thing," he said.
Jirbin confirmed to Daily Trust yesterday that it was true that he allocated projects to his constituency just like some of his colleagues did.
"It is true that there are projects allocated to my constituency just like other members did. Just because I'm the chairman of the appropriation committee, my constituents should not get projects? Are my constituents not Nigerians?
"Every member has one project or the other in his constituency, so I don't think I did anything wrong by having some projects in my constituency. I think people should be fair to me please," he said.
A breakdown of the projects showed that there are 10 under the ministry of works, which are
construction and rehabilitation of the works centre, N100m;
construction of town hall, N100m;
block of classrooms, undisclosed;
rehabilitation of Sharada - Kwanar Dogara, N1.445bn;
solar street lights, N300m;
drainage, N20m;
rehabilitation of Gwarzo Kiru, Kwanar Maiyaki, N180m;
Kiru - Badaf road construction, N405m;
rehabilitation and construction of roads in Kiru/Bebeji, N150m, and
construction of pedestrian bridges, N200m.
In the ministry of water resources, there are eight projects, namely:
construction of earth dam, N1m;
construction of 10 hand-pump boreholes in Bagauda, N10m;
small irrigation schemes in Kiru, N100m;
construction of Bebeji earth dam, N270m;
construction of solar powered boreholes, N150m;
outstanding projects of 2014 in Kiru Bebeji, N100m and
provision of hand-pump boreholes and water scheme, N38.023m.
Under the ministries of women affairs and agriculture, the projects are empowerment programme:
supply of tricycles, grinding machines and set of women salon empowerment kits, N200m and
construction of rural roads in Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, N150m.
As for the SGF's office, there are two projects for the Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, which are
provision of empowerment items, N100m and
provision of entrepreneurship development training and vocational centre, N100m.
It was observed that one item was repeated with different figures under the Ministry of Water Resources, which is construction of Bebeji earth dam with N270m and N50m respectively.
There have been controversies over the removal of the N60bn Lagos-Calabar rail project and others from the 2016 budget by the lawmakers.
Sources told Daily Trust that the lawmakers at both chambers removed some of the projects included in the budget submitted by the executive and replaced them with new ones.
It was gathered that the chairman of the House of Representatives committee on appropriation, Rep Abdulmumin Jibrin, allocated projects worth N4.169 billion to his constituency in the budget.
Details of the budget seen by Daily Trust yesterday indicated that Jibrin alone allocated 22 projects worth N4.169bn to Kiru/Bebeji, his federal constituency. It was gathered that the projects allocated to the lawmaker's federal constituency are outside the usual constituency projects captured in the budget.
A senator told our correspondent on condition of anonymity, that the projects were included during budget defence and that they had since scaled through.
"In works alone, 80 road projects that were not in the budget submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari were included. These projects were injected into the budget by the works committee," he said.
