Eagles Depart For Brasilia On Friday Ahead France Tie

The national team, Super Eagles, will travel out of their camp in Campinas on Friday evening to Brasilia for their Monday round of 16 tie against France.
A statement issued from Brazil on Thursday by Ben Alaiya, the Super Eagles Media Officer, said all logistics had been perfected for the trip by FIFA in conjunction with the team.
It said that the injured midfielder, Babatunde Michael, had undergone a successful surgery on his fractured wrist and returned to camp, ahead of the trip to Brasilia.
"Unfortunately, he (Babatunde) is ruled out of the tournament because it will take at least three weeks for that surgery to heal.
"We are sad about that but we have people who can fill in for him very well and I think we have to win France for him," Keshi added.
Keshi said Nigerians should not fret over the development as there were capable replacements for the player.
The statement also quoted Keshi as saying that Moses would return to action in the match against France after the injury he sustained in the game against Iran.
"Moses has a muscle strain that was discovered by the team's medics after the first game against Iran.
"He was advised to rest it so that he can come out better in subsequent games.
"We can understand that all players want to play at the big stage.
"It is, however, up to us and the medical team to manage their career and balance it with due diligence regarding their health.
"That is why we have not played him,'' the statement quoted Keshi as saying.
Moses, it would be recalled, watched the last game from the stands with technical officials and was not dressed for the encounter.
Keshi also took exception to news that his players said they would not play the next game because they had not been paid.
"We don't have money issues here; I talk to the players and the NFA leadership everytime.
"So, I wonder what some people want to achieve by always drawing us back from our set goals,'' he said.

Kanye/Kim Kardashian Marriage On The Rocks

Sources are saying that Kim and Kanye's marriage is on the rocks according to multiple sources.

The sources say that Kanye is tired with Kim's hoarding of clothes and shoes, which she will never use.

The sources said: "Kim rents two storage lockers and had two rooms in her old house reserved for piles of clothes and shoes she never wears." "She also keeps years of backdated magazine and newspaper clippings that she's been mentioned in.

Kanye doesn't mind that Kim is so self-involved; he just wishes she was more organized about it. He told her to scan it onto a hard drive and to toss the paper trail "They had their first major post-wedding fight after Kanye threw out boxes of Kim's hoarded items because Kanye says Kim's crap is wrecking his design aesthetic."

"They don't see eye to eye on this topic. Kim was furious after Kanye told her she should go on a show like 'Hoarders.' He warned Kim that he can't live with her if she continues to stockpile useless goods."

Kim have confessed on her show that she is a hoarder. Meanwhile Kim is tired of Kanye's over controlling behavior, it is said that she was pissed off not to sell her wedding pictures. Which was rumoured to have been worth up to 11 million dollars.

Bomb Scare In UNIJOS As Alleged Suicide Bomber Sighted

The University of Jos, Plateau state was thrown into chaos, with lecturers and students fleeing the campus following a bomb scare.

It was reported that an alleged suicide bomber was sighted who was apprehended by the students as he tried to enter the premises, according to Punch.

As a result of the alarm raised by the students, it caused pandemonium in the university as people ran for safety.

However some students summoned up courage to capture the alleged bomber, who was almost beaten to a pulp before he was rescued by the school security.

This is coming less than 24 hours after bomb blast rocked Abuja which killed 21 people and injured 17.

Immediately the news went round, even students and teachers in lecture halls thought it wise to abandon their books as they took to their heels for dear life.

It would be recalled that on May 20, a twin bomb explosions rocked Jos which left over 200 people dead and scores injured in the blast.

Seven University of Jos students were also killed in the bomb blast.

Following the Jos bomb blast in May, it was reported of another bomb scare which forced residents to remain indoors as schools, banks were shut down.

Lagos Explosion Was A Car Bombing

Almost twenty four hours after an explosion happened on Tuesday, 25 June, 2014, night on Creek Road near the Burma Road junction in Apapa, Lagos State, western Nigeria, security sources are saying the explosion was a car bombing.

This is contrary to information sent out earlier today by the Lagos State Government officials that the explosion, which eyewitnesses reported to have occurred around 9:15pm on Tuesday, came from a gasoline tanker parked beside a gasoline depot in Apapa.

Premium Times reports that two security sources disclosed that the explosion was apparently carried out by a female suicide bomber and was aimed at igniting several gasoline depots in the area.

It was gathered that a security source said the explosion could have triggered a massive inferno and inflicted a horrifying scale of casualties in the Apapa area, which serves as residential area as well as the hub of economic activities, including shipping, manufacturing, and storage of petrochemical products.
The source informed that said the suicide bomber apparently planned to ignite a series of gas distribution plants and gasoline depots owned by Folawiyo Energy some 150 meters away from the site of the explosion.

Earlier reports stated that at least four persons were killed by the explosion, among them the female suicide bomber who drove a Mercedes Benz car that caused the explosion.

Those that got to the scene of the bomb blast opined that the head of the female driver lay on the ground next to the Mercedes Benz used in the bombing.

Commenting on the explosion, the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Mr. Kehinde Adebayo, had told reporters that the explosion was from a gasoline tanker.

Also, officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) told SaharaReporters that the incident was a fire outbreak on Commercial Road in Apapa.

The Federal emergency officials said they were denied entry to the scene of the car bomb and were excluded by Lagos officials from participating in the rescue and recovery process.

No group has claimed responsibility for the apparent car bomb and will be the first in Lagos since the Boko Haram insurgency entered its most violent stage in 2009.

The United Nations, UN, some weeks ago blacklisted the Islamists militant group saying the sect had killed over four thousand lives since 2009.

Terrorism: “Boko Haram wants to divide Nigeria’s unity” – Navy

The Nigerian Navy says the Boko Haram sect is out to destroy and break the unity of Nigeria.

This is coming on the backdrop of the continuous attacks on innocent citizens, with most recent bombings in Abuja, Kano, Kaduna and Adamawa states.

The Chief of Naval staff, Vice Admiral Suleiman Jubrin, who made this observation, affirmed that the acts of terrorism was becoming excessive.

Vice Admiral Jubrin said this on his visit to the MNS Pathfinder Base in Port Harcourt.

He called on Naval officers and other security agencies to be up and doing in the fight against the insurgents.

According to him, "Members of Boko Baram do not love this country. They want to destabilize us and we must not succumb. We must unite and fight the menace of Boko Haram.

"We are succeeding and we must continue to check them until we push them out of this county. They are enemies of this nation and we must deal with them excessively the way we deal with criminals on the war front.

"They are not to be spared because they are enemies of this nation".

He also noted that efforts by Naval officers in the country had drastically reduced the trend of oil theft in the Niger-Delta.

While commending the Navy for its protection of Nigeria's territorial waters, Jubrin disclosed that the rate of stolen crude oil had reduced from over 4 million ballers a month to about 1 million barrels.

He said: "We have recorded very huge success in meeting the expectation of the Nigerian Navy. We have reduced oil theft to the barest minimum.

"What used to be about 4.2 million barrel loss monthly, has been reduced to 1 million barrel a month.

"By the time the report we recorded in oil theft in May is published, you will agree with me that it will reduce to the likelihood of about 5 hundred thousand barrels.

"I think it is a huge success that members of the Nigerian Navy should be celebrating".

PanaTV Acquires Rights to Stream Half Of A Yellow Sun in the US and Exclusively in the UK

A select agreement with the London-based Soda Pictures has given Africa's PanaTV the streaming rights to the internationally celebrated film 'Half Of A Yellow Sun.' The deal is significant for the budding network, as it will be the first to stream the film exclusively in the United Kingdom.

A related deal with the monterey media company in the United States grants PanaTV the non-exclusive rights to stream the 2013 drama in the US, plus a limited shared exclusive pre-window.

The movie will be available for VOD in the US, from June 29th, and in the UK, from August 2014.

Half Of A Yellow Sun, adapted from Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's best-selling, Orange Prize-winning novel of the same title, has been lauded internationally for its heartrending illustration of Nigeria's Biafran War, a conflict that collides with each character's life in a distinct way.

Written and produced by Nigerian playwright, novelist, and screenwriter Biyi Bandele, Half Of A Yellow Sun stars Academy Award-nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years A Slave), BAFTA award winner Thandie Newton (Crash), Anika Noni Rose (The Princess And The Frog), John Boyega, Onyeka Onwenu, Joseph Mawle, Genevieve Nnaji and O.C. Ukeje.

Controversy has surrounded the film, however, as The National Film & Videos Censors Board (NFVCB) of Nigeria recently asked film exhibitors in a May 27 letter to "expunge/edit some clearly stated objectionable aspects". The objections arose out of concern for national security, the board states.

"The Board dutifully exercised due diligence, consonant with section 36 (1) (b) of NFVCB Enabling Law ACT 1993, CAP N40 LFN 2004, which stipulates that 'a decision on a film shall ensure that such a film is not likely to undermine national security'," Caesar O. Kagho, Acting Head of Corporate Affairs for the censors board stated.

"The NFVCB restates its position that Half Of A Yellow Sun was not banned as speculated," Kagho furthered. The NFVCB has not provided public detail on which "objectionable aspects" of the film they want edited or removed. Following the resolution of the highlighted issues, they state, the board will assign a rating for the film and it will be released to the public.

Despite the controversy surrounding the film in Nigerian theaters, the news of the PanaTV deal is promising to other international viewers who are interested in seeing Half Of A Yellow Sun.

Regarding the arrangement, Louise Rae, Head of Home Entertainment at Soda Pictures said: "We are delighted that Half of a Yellow Sun will be streaming on PanaTV, and believe it is a great home for the film to connect with audiences."

Echoing this, Mandy Roger, PanaTV's Head of Content said "This demonstrates that we seek out high quality films for our viewers; expect to see more of such quality films and content on PanaTV this year."

Half Of A Yellow Sun will be one of the first major features PanaTV will air, as the online television service is slated to officially launch in mid-2014. PanaTV aims to offer over 8,000 hours of quality films, music videos, sports, kids, and lifestyle programming.

Ritualists’ Den Uncovered In Lagos, 8 Kidnapped Victims Rescued

A ritualists' den was, yesterday, uncovered at Ogolonto area of Ikorodu Lagos, with at least eight victims, said to have been kidnapped from different parts of the country, rescued.

One of the victims, a 52-years old man, who identified himself simply as Onwurah, alleged that his wife had a hand in his kidnap, saying he had spent two years in the enclave.

The den was uncovered following a foiled attempt by a mother of four to take one of her victims, a seven years old boy, to the den.

The woman identified as Mrs Rosemary Chukwu, who resides at 33, Omologede Street, behind C&S Primary School, allegedly abducted the seven-years old primary school pupil, Emmanuel Emeka, on his way to fetch water from a public well at about 6.30 a.m, Vanguard had learnt.

Chukwu was alleged to have kept the boy inside her toilet and engaged her four children in a prayer session, apparently to prevent her con tenants from hearing the abducted boy's cry for help.

Meanwhile, back in the abducted boy's home, located four buildings from his captors, his mother became apprehensive over his unusual delay. She was said to have raised alarm which caused residents to conduct a search round the neighborhood for Emeka.

Eye witnesses told Vanguard that Chukwu even went out and suggested areas where the search party could search for the missing boy. She was said to have been sighted with a suitcase on her head, accompanied by her children.

An eye witness, who gave his name as Oyetoye Gbemi, said: "She told us she was travelling to the village. But one of the area boys who was among the search party, ordered his colleagues to search the box.

"Immediately she heard that, she flung the box away and took to her heels. We all suspected something was amiss. When the box was opened, Emmanuel was found inside, half dead.

"The area boys descended on her and stripped her unclad. On interrogation, she said her pastor, the General Overseer of Holy Family Ministry a.k.a House of Mercy, asked her to bring the boy.

"The area boys followed her to 319, Lagos Road, Ikorodu, where the church is situated, where they saw her pastor waiting for her. But on sighting the crowd, he took to his heels.

"But for the arrival of Policemen from Owutu division, the woman would have been lynched. The angry mob also attempted to set the church ablaze but were also prevented by the policemen. They, however, succeeded in torching some parts of the property."

When Vanguard arrived the scene, a crowd had gathered, giving varying accounts of what happened.

But to the astonishment of all, another building alleged to be used for ritual purposes by Pastor Ernest Nwankwo was discovered.

The building located at 7, Oshodi Street, was behind the church. It was gathered that some miscreants uncovered the building while they were chasing the fleeing pastor.

The mob was said to have forced some apartments in the building open, where they found an undisclosed number of persons in chains.

The victims were said to have recounted how they were kidnapped from Anambra, Bayelsa, Ogun and Oyo states at different times. One of them, according to eye witnesses, who pleaded anonymity, said she was kidnapped 11 years ago.

According to an eyewitness, "the woman said she is about 50 years old and that she was kidnapped along the Lagos/Ibadan expressway while returning from a vigil.

"The rest were males and were wearing briefs. They looked haggard and tired. The area boys set them free when they opened the apartments. I believe some of them should be with the police.

"There were also 'Ghana must go' bags of currencies . The area boys looted some of the things they met before the arrival of the Police." [Vanguard]

Mysterious Snakes, Bees Fight Boko Haram Members In Sambisa Forest - Arrested Insurgent Reveal

Boko Haram members are reportedly fleeing Sambisa forest to areas across Borno state owing to what they they believe is spiritual attack as they are being attacked by mysterious snakes and bees.

This was revealed by one of the insurgents, Kolo Mustapha who was arrested yesterday at Mairi ward behind University of Maiduguri by members of the Civilian JTF vigilante group, Vanguard reports.

Kolo said, "most of us are fleeing because there are too many snakes and bees now in the forest. Once they bite, they disappear and the victims do not last for 24 hours. We were told that the aggrieved people who had suffered from our deadly mission, including the ghosts of some of those we killed, are the ones turning into the snake and bees."

He added that some of their leaders have fled to Cameroon because they could easily be identified by security agents in Nigeria if they flee to any part of the country.

Another arrested sect member, Umar Abor, said they have fought in Marte, Bama, Buni Yadima and Gwoza but they were not part of the Chibok attack and they have not seen the girls though they have heard about it because their leaders have been talking about it and they've been following all news on radio.

"They (our leaders) told us that it was our enemies and aggrieved people that are hunting us through diabolical means. We were in the forest in 2010 and 2011. We left and came back last year but we have never experienced such attacks. That is why they believe the Chibok people are using juju to pursue us because of their children said to have been taken by our leaders," Umar said.

According to one of the leaders of the Civilian JTF, many of the insurgents had been fleeing the Sambisa Forest in the past two weeks and most of them are being arrested and taken to the authorities, except when they resist arrest, in which case they are left with no option but to kill them.

Sambisa forest is notorious for serving as a perfect hide-out for Boko Haram fighters. Some days back, the Nigerian army killed no fewer than 70 suspected Boko Haram members fleeing into Sambisa after their deadly attack on three villages in Borno.

Abuja Explosion: Suspected Bomber Killed By Soldiers, Another Arrested

The Coordinator, National Information Centre, Mr Mike Omeri, disclosed yesterday that one of the suspected bombers of Emab Plaza on Aminu Kano Crescent in Wuse 2 in Abuja was killed by soldiers killed and arrested another.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the suspects were shot and arrested by personnel of the Guards Brigade on patrol duty in the area, while attempting to flee the scene.

One of them was said to have died later from gunshot wounds while a bag containing IEDs was also recovered from the suspects.

Speaking to newsmen in Abuja, Omeri said that the attackers came on a power bike and planted an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) by the entrance of the shopping mall.

He added that 21 persons had died from the blast while 17 others sustained injuries and several vehicles were damaged.

According to report, the injured victims are receiving treatment at the National Hospital, Wuse General Hospital and Maitama General Hospital.

During his visit to the Maitama hospital, FCT Minister Bala Mohammed assured the people that the Federal Government would foot the medical bills of the victims while also calling on residents to be very vigilante and report any suspicious movements to security agencies.

Yesterday's bomb blast at Emab plaza is coming on the heels of an explosion which rocked Nyanya in Abuja in May, leaving many dead and several injured.

Also, in April, an explosion rocked Abuja urban mass transport company limited garage under the bridge at Nyanya which left many dead.

Boko Haram Kills 12 Soldiers, Loses 25 Members In Borno

Nigeria is now becoming a one day one trouble kind of nation. Suspected Boko Haram militants yesterday attacked a military checkpoint Bulamburin village in Borno State killing 12 soldiers and losing 25 of their members in a fierce exchange of gunfire.

Bulamburin village, the scene of the deadly encounter, is about 50 kilometers south of Dambua in the southern part of the violence-plagued state.

A military source, who survived the siege, disclosed that the armed men who attacked the military contingent arrived in the village on motorcycles and in several sports utility vehicles mounted with anti-aircraft weapons.

Speaking to reporters in Maiduguri, the source said 12 soldiers had lost their lives, but that the military inflicted heavier casualties on the members of the dreaded Islamist group.

"Some soldiers escaped with bullet wounds," said the source. He added, "I was at the checkpoint when the terrorists came. We fired at them and tried our best, but they had advantage over us. They had better weapons and we had AK-47 rifles that were not fully loaded. When we realized that they had taken over the place, some of us escaped to Maiduguri and other places, but many could not make it."

Boko Haram terrorists have recently intensified their violent activities in the southern part of Borno State where hundreds of people have been killed, numerous homes razed, and many people kidnapped.

Gallant Eagles Qualify For 2nd Round

First was the atmosphere at the magnificent Estadio Beira Rio, Porto Alegre.
Any Brazilian asked who, between Nigeria and Argentina, he will easily say Nigeria.
The rivalry between Argentina and Brazil is bitter and has been on for long. Brazilians would always be happy to see Argentina fall and vice versa. And Brazilians wished the Eagles well yesterday. But they were very few in the stadium. Argentines took over the stadium.
They sang, danced and cheered. Their cheers were deafening. It was simply amazing. Eagles had to be strong to survive the play of the Argentines and the overwhelming crowd. That their team had won two matches and qualified did not matter to them. What mattered was victory.

Stephen Keshi had lined out the same team that started the match against Bosnia, respecting the saying that you don't change a winning team.
The game started with Argentina showing no sign of relaxation as a team that had already won two matches and qualified. Inspired by the charged atmosphere, they charged on the Eagles and scored in the third minute. Ambrsoe Efe was missing in his right back position after running forward. Angel Di Maria exploited the space Efe provided him and ran deep before hitting a shot that Vincent Enyeama parried. It hit the post and the rebound Lionel Messi clinically finished up.
The Argentines were still celebrating the goal when Michael Babatunde ran deed and provided a pass to the left for Ahmed Musa who cut in and curved the ball into the net for Nigeria's equaliser.
Eagles thereafter enjoyed some reprieve but Argentina continued to push forward, creating chances and taking shots that harassed the Eagles defence. Enyeama had to save two long range shots and showed how reliable he could be.
But Argentina appeared to be capitalising on the slow game John Obi Mikel was playing in the midfield. Gonzalo Higuain, Federico Fernandez, Sergio Aguero with Messi kept on attacking and outplaying Mikel, Onazi and Babatunde in the midfield. Osaze was forced to be dropping deep and was doing a good job.
Shortly after Enyama parried into corner a curling Messi's free kick, It did not dawn on the Eagles that they needed to avoid fouls deep in their half. Another foul and another free kick followed. Messi was this time merciless. He curled the ball into the same corner Enyeama had saved but the Nigerian keeper had no answer this time.
The goal pained the Nigerians in the stadium who were becoming confident that the Eagles could hold Argentina. It was in the stoppage time of the first half. Even the fans of Argentina were no longer as loud as they were in the beginning. Although Eagles were more under pressure, they seemed to be surviving, putting more than many had expected. They impressed to a reasonable extent.
As the Eagles moved into the dressing room, the news that Bosnia were leading 1-0 against Iran was pacifying.
And Ahmed Musa equalised superbly on resumption of the second half. But Argentines know how to make use of set pieces. Marcos Rojo flicked in a corner when Eagles defenders lost a little concentration. It all happened within ten minutes of the second half.
Ricardo Alveres came in for Messi and Okechukwu Uchegbu came in for injured Babatunde in the 65th minute. It was at this stage that Bosnia scored the second goal against Iran and Tijani Ahmed, a Nigerian journalist roared "we are in the second round and Eagles needed a tough match like this to prepare them for the second round."
Uche Nwofor came in for Osaze Odemwingie and there were audible grumbles among Nigerian journalists, who felt that Osaze was having a good game. As at 84th it was 3-1 for Bosnia and Nigeria were coasting home for a second round were they would face France, a strong team but which are beatable.
The Nigerian team here have shown that they can still go further.

Musa: I’m On Top Of The World

NOT only did he score two goals in a match in the World Cup, he also scored what has become Nigeria's fastest goal in the country's World Cup history, and also against a crack Argentinian team.

Ahmed Musa said he felt on top of the World yesterday scoring two goals in a match sharing the spoils with world's most dreaded player, Messi. ''I feel so happy scoring two goals against a Messi-inspired team.
Above all, I am happier that we have qualified for the second round. We are going to improve more in the second round. I know that it is not easy. But we are determined to do better than we did in previous World Cup', an overwhelmed Musa said moments after the World Cup match. Source: Vanguard News

We Gave Too Much Respect To Argentina – Keshi

Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi reviewed the 3-2 loss to Argentina in their last group match that saw them qualifying to the second round of the World Cup, saying that Nigeria gave Argentina too much respect.
''I think that we gave Argentina too much respect in the first half. That is why we played deep not trying to concede goals. It is not in our character to play defensive game.

We are known for attacking football like Argentina. But that changed in the second half and we took control of the game and the possession.
I think that the game was good with my players improving in all games
Messi is from Jupiter
Stephen Keshi also poured encomiums on Argentine player Lionel Messi .
Despite the loss, Nigeria finished second behind Argentina and moved into the second round to face France.
Asked if his team played against Argentina or Messi, he laughed and said; ''Messi is a blessing to football. You can't take it away from him.
There are other talented players in the Argentine team but I think that Messi is from another planet. Messi is from Jupiter", he said causing an uproar of laughter from the media.

INCREDIBLE: Woman Gives Birth After 14 Years Pregnancy!

Saturday June 7, 2014, will remain the happiest day in the life of Mercy James. Reason? That was the day she miraculously gave birth to a baby girl after 14 years of being pregnant.
The baby was promptly and aptly christined Miracle. And why not? If the mother had delivered at the expected time the child would have been a teenager by now and possibly in secondary school at the JSS 3 level.
Mercy, a single parent, said of her ordeal during the 14 years she was pregnant but could not give birth: "When I first took in, I knew that I was pregnant with signs and test that confirmed that I was. Four months later, I went to hospital for another test, the result showed that I wasn't pregnant, but had fibroid.
Subsequently, I began to experience bleeding, at least once a day. Sometimes, my tummy would protrude in the semblance of pregnancy. I went to different hospitals, and I kept on receiving the same result that nothing was wrong with me. But deep down inside , I knew that all was not well with me.
Churches and native doctors
"So I was taken aback when a midwife told me I was pregnant. But considering the test which showed I had fibroid, I was angry with the midwife for giving me what I felt was a false prophecy of hope. Thereafter, I started going from one church to another and from one native doctor to the other. The results that I got from them all remained the same. I became more feeble and confused that I prayed for death to come.
"I went again to the midwife two years after and complained to her about the pains that I was going through, she told me again that it was not fibroid but pregnancy; she advised me to be more prayerful so that God will deliver me from the hands of the devil. I kept on praying and at the same time asking myself that if truly I'm pregnant, why is it that the baby was not kicking?
"I bought many concoctions that they said could cure fibroid and drank them. I even drank 12 bottles of a local cleanser but to no avail. This went on for years. Then God took pity on me and decided to wipe my tears.
On the day I gave birth to my baby girl, I initially thought that worms were trying to come out of my body not knowing that it was a baby. This was what I told the midwife when we came to her. But after examining me she told me to push.
I ignored her. I became unconscious for about 15 minutes and when I regained consciousness, I heard the cry of a baby. I was surprised and confused seeing my baby. I couldn't believe my eyes. Hmm,I thank God for my life and that of my baby Miracle. I named her Miracle because she is truly a miraculous child".
Miraculous child
The midwife at the Celestial Church of Christ, Kadoso Parish, Ajegunle where Mercy gave birth confirmed the development, especially the role she played.
The woman who simply gave her name as Mrs Ajetima informed thus: "She was pregnant for 14 years and was unable to give birth during this period. Then on Saturday around 6:30am I saw two persons carrying her to this place. When she came inside, I laid her down and asked one of my daughters to examine her, after the examination, I found out that it was a baby that was about coming out and not worms. I asked her to push and she refused. My daughter gave her a hard slap on her laps since she refused to push.
Behold a baby with placenta came out! I started shouting, calling on people to come and see for themselves that Mercy was truly pregnant, because if not, people will start to say that that Celestial woman has given Mercy a baby. Within a twinkle of an eye, the whole place was filled with people. God is wonderful".
Also affirming the happy development, Mercy's closest friend, Odunayo Odeyemi had this to say: "I have known mercy for over nine years now. I met her with the pregnancy . In fact, she did not know that she was pregnant. I followed her to many places but her problems kept on increasing. Merely looking at Mercy then before she gave birth, you will notice that she wasn't okay. I kept advising her to have faith in God because I had experienced the same thing. I was pregnant for three years and three months and God delivered me.
"Mercy came to me on that fateful day around 4am begging me to give her a pain reliever, that she was having pains all over her body. I dressed up and took her to a man that sells drugs. After taking the drug, on our way home, she started having serious pains. I called her brother and we both took her to the midwife. Hours later, she gave birth to a bouncing baby girl. We all were surprised because we never expected such a miracle to happen. She had a complete baby."
Robert Davidson, one of Mercy's friends, said that he concluded after seeing Mercy with a protruded tummy for three years that she had fibroid. So, "it came to me as a shock to learn that she delivered a bouncing baby girl."
For Chidimma Ibe, a neighbour: "She always complained to me that she had stomach pains all these period. She told me that she had fibroid and sometime, she will complain of different things. She was totally confused as to what her condition was. I'm very much surprised and happy she gave birth to a complete baby girl. It was truly a miracle. God was on her side. God is wonderful because all the concoctions she took were enough to kill the baby."
On the father of Baby Miracle, Mercy informed that they got separated on account of the ordeal that attended her pregnancy. "Friday is the name of my baby's father. Actually, we are not married. He just proposed to me and I became pregnant for him. He knew about the pregnancy. He always gave me money for tests and scans but he got tired and left me after waiting for me for over a year without seeing any sign of a baby. I have no option than to go my own way," she informed.

Special  Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, at the Lagos State Police Command, weekend, arrested two herbalists and two Islamic clerics (aka Alfas),  who specialised in buying and selling of human body parts.
Vanguard gathered that the suspects, identified as Wasiu Oyebamiji, Ogunshola Olakunle Afolabi, Akorede Wasiu and Rasheed Opeyemi, were apprehended in various parts of Ogun and Lagos states.
Sources at the state Police Command headquarters, Ikeja, disclosed that the Police deployed a team of undercover operatives to track down one of the suspects, Afolabi, said to be a specialist in sourcing human parts from road accident victims.
A source, who spoke to Vanguard on condition of anonymity, said one of the undercover operatives approached Afolabi for a human head for which he demanded N45,000.
The source added that after payment, Afolabi provided a fresh human head, confiding in the operative that it was the head of a woman killed by a hit-and-run driver on the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway.
"We then apprehended him and on interrogation he confessed that he used to sell the human parts to some people who parade themselves as clerics.
"He also told us that when he could not find corpses on the expressway, he would approach a grave digger, identified as Ajigbolorun Waheed, to bring human parts for him. When we searched his shop at Abule Egba, we found pieces of human flesh."
The source also added that Oyebamiji was arrested at Oko-Oba market where he sells herbs and human parts, while Wasiu and Opeyemi were arrested at Sango-Ota area of Ogun State.
I use the parts for good, not rituals
— Suspect
When Vanguard interviewed the suspects, they confessed to the crime but explained they that they used to  mix the parts with other things to make concoctions.
Fifty-year-old Opeyemi told Vanguard that he was using the concoction to treat mental disorder.
He said: "I started using it when I had a patient with a severe mental disorder. Before the man was brought to me, I was told he had beaten up a lot of people and he had even broken his mother's head.
"I was confused when I saw the case and I tried using my old tactics to cure him. After several efforts and my tactics were not working, I then consulted some of  my friends and one of them told me to  get human parts from two different persons, roast and grind them, then mix it with soap and dried plantain leaf.
"After doing it, I used it and it worked wonderfully. I want to say that I was using these human parts for good and not for money rituals."
Wasiu also narrated how he used human parts to stop pregnant women from going through  surgery while in labour.
He said: "If a woman is brought to me and it is said that she is unable to deliver safely,  I will prepare a concoction with human parts and when I rub it on the woman's stomach, she will deliver easily without surgery.". Source: Vanguard News

Zidane to coach Real Madrid feeder team

France legend Zinedine Zidane has been appointed coach for next season of Real Madrid's feeder team, third-division side Castilla, the club said Wednesday.
"Zinedine Zidane will manage Castilla next season," Real Madrid said in a statement on the club's website.
"Zizou, who was Carlo Ancelotti's first squad assistant coach this year, will start a new stage of his career at Real Madrid.
"Zidane will be joined by youth coach Santiago Sánchez and has already started working on future plans for the reserve team squad."
Castilla were relegated to the Spanish third tier last season, but may be reinserted into the second division if sanctions are taken against Zaragoza and Murcia for financial transgressions.
Zidane, 42, played for Cannes, Bordeaux and Juventus before joining Real Madrid in 2001 and retiring at the age of 34 after the 2006 World Cup.
He became France's playmaker in the buildup to the 1998 World Cup on home soil and earned legendary status with two headed goals in the 3-0 win over Brazil in the final.
Four years later injury spoiled his World Cup in South Korea and Japan, but he was instrumental in leading France into the 2006 World Cup final in Germany against Italy only to be sensationally sent off for headbutting defender Marco Materazzi in the chest before the Italians won on penalties.
He had recently been linked with the vacant managerial job at his former club Bordeaux, but elected instead to stay at Real where he is regarded as one of the club's finest ever players.
He enjoys a close relationship with Ancelotti and will now be in charge of developing younger players for first team duty. He would also be ideally placed to take over from the Italian when he decides to move on.
Ancelotti said of his assistant in May: "He is learning how to work as a coach. He is hard-working, he has charisma and the right kind of personality to succeed.
"He is learning how to programme training sessions, how to talk to the players, how to motivate them and a a consequence of that I think that he is ready to take over as coach at any team."

Ghana airlifts $3 million to Black Stars

Ghana's government said on Wednesday that it is sending more than $3 million in cash on a chartered plane to Brazil to pay appearance fees for its World Cup squad.
Deputy Sports Minister Joseph Yamin told radio station Citi FM in Accra that the government chartered a plane to fly from Ghana to Brazil on Tuesday after the Black Stars demanded they be paid their appearance fee and rejected having the money wired to them.
"The players haven't been paid their appearance fee as such today," Yamin said. "It's as a result of the decision as to which mode of payment should be affected in this current World Cup."
A statement from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) said President John Dramani Mahama personally assured the players that they would receive their money.
"The government is pre-financing the payment of the Black Stars appearance fees which will be reimbursed when FIFA's prize-money for Ghana's participation in the World Cup is paid after the tournament in Brazil," the statement said.
The Black Stars still have an outside chance of reaching the knockout stages though they must beat Portugal in their final group game on Thursday to have any hope of doing so.
Both they and Portugal are on one point while Germany and the United States, who also play each other on Thursday, have four.
Ghana's camp was rocked earlier this week by reports in Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper accusing GFA president Kwesi Nyantakyi of agreeing to fix matches. He has denied the claims.
Ghana, which is West Africa's second-largest economy, has recently been struggling with a 10.8 percent budget deficit and a rapidly depreciating currency.
Yamin defended the cash payment to the Black Stars, saying a successful football team is crucial for national morale.
"Football is the passion of the nation and everybody seems to turn against government, not this government, but government if anything goes bad against the team," Yamin said.

Reason Why Woman Sentenced To Death In Sudan Was Jailed Again

Meriam Ibrahim has been going through a tough year so far, having been jailed for refusing to denounce christianity and then having to give birth in jail cuffed.

And as it seems the storm was over, days back as she got her freedom after massive protest from all over the world, it seems that it was just the beggining.

Yesterday as she tried to fly to the USA with her husband and kids she was arrested again, this time with her whole family including her two young kids.

Sources have told BBC why the woman was re-arrested yesterday at Khartoum's airport.

The source said that she tried to leave South Sudan with emergency travel documents issued by South Sudan

Meriam Ibrahim was detained on Tuesday, a day after a court released her, annulling the death sentence imposed on her for renouncing the Islamic faith.

Mrs Ibrahim had emergency travel documents issued by South Sudan when she was detained at Khartoum's airport

Mrs Ibrahim's lawyer, Elsherif Ali told reporters that Sudan's security service had accused Mrs Ibrahim of forging her document and is now being held at a local police station in Khartoum.

South Sudan embassy have however came out and said that the travel documents they issued are genuine.

Her husband, Wani hails from South Sudan but she is Sudanese and the Sudan's intelligence agency are now saying she can't use another country's travel document, stamped with a US visa.

They said: "She came to the airport in an American embassy car - which was bullet proof and heavily guarded. There is something fishy about turning up in a foreign car - something not normal to come in a bullet proof car and guarded by the US embassy,".

"Everyone knows she is Sudanese. We know she is Sudanese… imagine a British citizen trying to travel wherever appearing at the airport carrying an emergency document from Costa Rica. This is a violation of emigration law anywhere in the world,".

Meanwhile reports state that the husband and kids have been freed.

Nigerian Military Placed On Red Alert In Connection With Security Issues

In fear of the Boko Haram insurgents infiltration, Nigerian military personnel members were reportedly placed on red alert yesterday.

The Nation also reports that some restrictions were imposed on Facebook networking by officers and other ranks, plus the security staff was prevented from taking annual leaves and from travelling out of their official postings.

In general, all who were absent for some official reason or meant to leave, were returned.

According to one of the sources, the mass red alert, which is usually issued in case of potential security risk, was aimed at eradicating "threats in the system".

The military source was quoted saying:

"The security challenges in the country require a state of alertness on the part of officers and men in the Armed Forces... We want everyone restricted to his or her duty post and barracks to avert infiltration by the insurgents. Some of these insurgents have been trying to induce military men but they have never succeeded."

It would be recalled that only last week the Nigerian security claimed that the dreaded sect might use hijacked petrol tankers to bomb Abuja, which caused panic among the country capital residents.

Regarding the Internet limitations, the source said that in was a common practice in the world, because criminals use network to learn more about their "enemy".

Fear of Sell-Out to Argentina Grips Nigeria

Nigerian officials were very uncomfortable yesterday with the news of a possible sell-out of the all-important match between Iran and Bosnia Hezergovina.
Bosnia are yet to come to terms with losing 1-0 to Nigeria after Osaze Odemwingie flicked in a cross provided by Emmanuel Emeinke. Many observers believed that Emenike had fouled Bosnian defender before bulldozing himself to give the cross that led to Osaze's goal. Before then, Edin Dzeko scored a goal which was disallowed by the New Zealand referee but replays showed that he was not in an offside position.

With a controversial offside call disallowing a goal by striker Edin Dzeko, Bosnia-Herzegovina fell to Nigeria 1-0 in a Group F matchup. The loss eliminated Bosnia-Herzegovina from contention in its first-ever trip to the World Cup.
"Today we should have won this game. The referee was shameful. We are going home, we are sad because of that but this referee should be going home too. He changed the result and he changed the game. That's why we lost." , Dzeko said.
Thereafter, a picture of goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama hugging the referee after the match went viral as comments suggested that the referee was celebrating Nigeria's victory.
All these have heightened fears that Bosnia could compromise with today's match against Iran to punish Nigeria. ''We're looking up to FIFA and want them to monitor the match between Iran and Bosnia. Everything is possible", a Nigerian official complained yesterday. If Iran beat Bosnia and Argentina beat Nigeria, the Iranians would sail through to the second round. The fears are palpable.

Assemblies of God Church crisis worsens as members clash in Enugu

THE crisis in the Assemblies of God Church Nigeria, with its polarising effects, took a dangerous dimension, yesterday, as members of the two camps clashed leaving some people wounded.
An attempt by the faction loyal to the Assistant General Superintendent, Rev. Chidi Okoroafor, to hold anti-Paul Emeka meeting at Isiagu Street, Achara Layout branch of the church was the major cause of the clash.
The embattled General Superintendent of the church, Rev. Paul Emeka, and some top members of the church had engaged in a protracted dispute over issues relating to lack of accountability and conspiracy in the church's leadership.
The anti-Emeka members of the church's executive committee had slated a meeting yesterday to review the crisis that engulfed the church, following the purported suspension of the General Superintendent by a group in the church.
The District Pastor incharge of Isiagu street branch of the church, Pastor Isaac Ochu, who is in the anti-Emeka faction, accepted to host the meeting, even when some leaders of his branch, including the deacons, were opposed to the meeting.
Pastor Ochu was said to have announced the meeting last Sunday but his members who were sympathetic to the GS, told him point-blank that the meeting of the alleged renegades should not hold in the church.
Pastor Ochu was said to have ignored their advice and went ahead to convene the meeting in his church but unknown to him, the deacons in the church had mobilized their colleagues from other branches to barricade the entrances to the church.
Sensing that there could be danger at the meeting venue, the anti-Emeka group reportedly invited soldiers to the church Monday night but were withdrawn in the early hours of yesterday.
However, when the participants who were mostly pastors from different branches of the church in the state arrived for the meeting yesterday morning, they met a stiff resistance by the pro-Eneka group and as they tried to force their way into the church, a fight broke out between the two groups.
The anti-Emeka group, according to an eyewitness, was overpowered as the pastors ran for their dear lives and later moved to an undisclosed place in Trans-Ekulu to hold the meeting.
The pro-Emeka group remained at the church premises until yesterday evening but declined to speak with newsmen.
But some of the deacons were heard threatening that Pastor Ochu would not be allowed to preside over the affairs of the church, henceforth, for identifying with the renegades who they accused of trying to destroy the church.

Polytechnics Crisis: ASUP/Govt. Meeting Aborted As Indifferent Federal Officials Fail To Show Up

A meeting on Tuesday scheduled between the national executive of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) and Government officials to discuss solutions to close down of Polytechnics did not hold.

Sources say the meeting, which was called by the Senate Committee on Education, stalled owing to the absence of the Ministers of Education and Labor, Messrs. Nyesom Wike and Emeka Wogu, as well as the Secretary to Government of the Federation, Mr. Anyim Pius Anyim.

The committee called the meeting following the failure of the Education minister and other relevant agencies of the government had failed to end the industrial crisis in the polytechnics.

In the polytechnics strike, which is now extending into one full year, none of the key issues has been significantly resolved. ASUP executive members said the meetings with the Ministry of Education and its leadership have yielded no fruit.  The Senate intervention is seen as the next big hope for resolution to enable the students to resume their education.

Some students of affected institutions embarked on a series of protests recently in Lagos, but were violently repressed by the police.

The students professed support for their lecturers' action, describing ASUP demands as being in order and covering the academic interest of students.

Fresh Attack In Southern Kaduna, 20 Feared Killed

Fresh report says another bloody raid has been launched by gunmen in southern Kaduna, with at least 20 people killed.

Hours after news about the attack on Sanga LGA of the state rocked the country, another tragedy occurred in Kobin village of the same area.

Sahara Reporters refers to its military source:

"Our information is that the attackers came around 1:20 p.m. in the afternoon and started killing left and right."

The officer added that the attackers retreated when the military showed up in the beleaguered town. But he continued that the violence had escalated to the nearest Gwantu town.

"Some people were killed in Gwantu, and their corpses are being taken into the mortuary."

The source added that several gunmen spotted with weapon similar to the one recovered from suspects arrested in connection with today's previous raid, were detained by soldiers.

It would be recalled that the earlier attack has claimed no fewer than 38 lives, and one suspect was taken into police custody.

'Several dead' in Kenya coast attack

At least five killed by attackers in Taa village near Mpeketoni, the site of raids that killed 65 last week.

Five people have been killed by unknown attackers in a village on Kenya's coast near Mpeketoni town, where at least 65 people died in attacks last week, according to a government official.

"I am aware that a gang that is unknown attacked Taa village in Witu division yesterday [Monday] night and killed five people," the Lamu County commissioner, Stephen Ikua, told Reuters news agency.

The "attackers used machetes and other crude weapons ... the victims have cuts and injuries," Taa village chief Kaviha Charo Karisa told Reuters.

Taa village is about 40km from Mpeketoni village where last week's deadly attack took place.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack on the village, the latest in a string of assaults that has piled political pressure on the government to secure the country and battered its vital tourism industry.

Somali armed group al-Shabab said it carried out last week's attacks on the Mpeketoni area, although the Kenyan president, Uhuru Kenyatta, dismissed the claim and said local politicians were behind it.

FIFA investigates alleged Suarez bite

FIFA officials are investigating claims by Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini that Uruguay's Luis Suarez bit him during Tuesday's World Cup match.
FIFA said they would wait for match reports from Uruguay's World Cup win over Italy before deciding whether to take action against Suarez.
"We are awaiting the official match reports and will gather all the necessary elements in order to evaluate the matter," a FIFA spokeswoman said after Uruguay's 1-0 win over Italy.
Television replays appeared to show Suarez attempting to sink his teeth into Chiellini's shoulder.

Keshi wishes Messi ‘Happy Birthday’ at 27

Lionel Messi turned 27 on Tuesday in the full spotlight of the World Cup, the Argentina superstar receiving birthday wishes from hordes of fans camped outside the team hotel.
Former Cuban leader Fidel Castro, Argentine coach Alejandro Sabella and Stephen Keshi, whose Nigeria side nervously await Messi on Wednesday, all joined the festivities.

Messi.
From the stroke of midnight the internet buzzed with good wishes to the Barcelona legend whose goals against Bosnia-Hercegovina and Iran lifted Argentina into the last 16 ahead of their closing Group F run out at the Beiro-Rio stadium.
"I wished Leo Happy Birthday at midnight," said Sabella, who will be putting the champagne on ice for after Wednesday's game when a draw would see Messi and his colleagues top the group and avoid a likely second round date with France.
Argentina are staying at the Hotel Deville in this southern port city where on Tuesday morning fans decked out in the blue and white colours of Argentina gathered to serenade their hero with chants of 'Happy Birthday'.
Others turned up at the stadium to try and catch a glimpse of their idol as he took part in a pre-match closed training session.
One man happily plotting to ruin Messi's celebrations is Keshi, who took time out from preparing the African champions, to say: "Happy Birthday Messi, it's a great day, I wish him a very Happy Birthday, a healthy long life and all his heart's desire, and we'll see him to celebrate after the match!"
The Super Eagles boss may not be quite so effusive if Messi produces his third match-winning goal after his show stoppers against Bosnia and a stoppage time wonder strike against Iran so far in Group F.
Little did his parents know it when their baby boy arrived into this world on June 24, 1987 but 27 years later he would be acclaimed as the best player on the planet.
"Leo is venerated in Argentina, he deserves to be," noted Sabella.
"Every time a player like him comes along of course there's a dependency on him, you are always dependent on a player like him.
"There is huge pressure on him, it's normal, but we try to take some off his shoulders."
The four time World Player of the Year is set to be feted like never before in Wednesday's game both in and outside the stadium with tens of thousands of Argentinian fans driving across the border to Porto Alegro, the closest World Cup venue to Argentina.
Seconds after midnight, cyberspace exploded with messages of goodwill for the man whose birthday falls on the same day as two other Argentine sporting greats, the late Formula One champion, Juan Manuel Fangio, and the Boca Juniors star Riquelme.
"The good thing about today is the birthday of the world's best player Lionel Andres Messi," tweeted Ardiansinho from Guayaquil in Ecuador.
"Happy Birthday King Lio Messi. The best player on the team. Legend." wrote on his page Tenzin Dorjee Vajara from India.
Castro sent a letter to his mate Maradona, the former Cuban strongman paying tribute to Messi as "the formidable athlete who glorifies the noble people of Argentina".
Messi's parents, his wife Antonella Roccuzzo Thiago and his son visited him on Sunday at the squad's World Cup base camp in Belo Horizonte following the 1-0 win over Iran. Messi's goal in the first minute of injury time took his tally to 40 goals for Argentina from 88 appearances.
This is his third World Cup and he hasn't hidden his ambition to lift the only silverware missing from his overladen trophy cabinet which features six Spanish titles, three champions League titles and two Club World Cups. Along the way he has scored 354 goals in 425 outings, including 91 goals in the 2012/2013 season – a milestone in the history of his Catalan club.

Tickets for Nigeria/Argentina match in hot demand

Tickets for the last Group F match between Nigeria and Argentina on Wednesday at Porto Alegre, at the ongoing 2014 World Cup in Brasil are now in hot demand a day to the encounter.
The tickets for every match in the competition had been sold long ago, those who had bought them in large quantities are now smiling to their banks.
The tickets which were officially sold for 90 dollars now cost 150 dollars with Nigerians in Brazil, especially rushing for them.
"This match is crucial because it will determine Nigeria's qualification to the round of 16 in the competition,'' a Nigerian football fan, Abdul Oliseh told NAN.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC) has vowed to storm the stadium in spite of the hardship they encountered from the previous two group matches.
The President-General of the club, Dr Rafiu Oladipo, said that his members would be in the venue in large numbers.
"We are not going to be discouraged by either FIFA or the Local Organising Committee of the competition not to do our usual national service.
"Besides, this match is most crucial because it will determine our faith in the competition.
"We need an outright victory against Argentina in the competition to consolidate our chances for the second round,'' Oladipo said.
It will be recalled that the Super Eagles goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, had during the first match against Iran on June 16 at Curitiba, complained of the absence of the club.
Enyeama had said that the absence of the club at the stadium, without their drumming, singing and trumpeting had made the Eagles feel like playing in an empty stadium.
NAN reports that Nigeria is currently second in Group F and a win over Argentina will consolidate its qualification for the round of 16.
