Jos Bomb Blasts: 46 Killed Says Police

The Plateau State Government have said they are in no hurry to release the casualty figures from Tuesday afternoon's two bomb blasts which hit the Terminus Market in Jos, though the police have said at least 46 people died from the blast.


The state's Information Commissioner, Olivia Dazyam, told newsmen in Jos on Tuesday that they are yet to ascertain the number of casualties as they are still collating the figures from various hospitals, adding that they would make the figures available as soon as possible.

While urging hospitals to accept the victims and begin treatment immediately, the commissioner said full investigation into the blast has begun and security agents had been drafted to the scene of the blasts.

She also called on the people to be calm and pray, especially for the victims and also lend their support to the authorities in these trying times.

Meanwhile, the Plateau state police commissioner, Chris Olakpe told journalist that 45 others were injured in the blasts.
