Two Oil Bunkerers Roast To Death In Edo Tanker

Two suspected oil bunkerers on Tuesday lost their lives to a tanker explosion at Ivue-Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State. Two other people wee saved by residents of the community and rushed to an undisclosed hospital where they are receiving treatment. It was gathered from eyewitnesses that the incident occurred at about 1:30am. The driver was said to be running away from soldiers who were after him and so he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into an electric pole. According to eyewitnesses, the high tension electric cable reportedly collapsed on the crude oil laden truck which caused it to burst into flames. The two men were roasted to death. Explaining what happened, the Spokesperson for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Uromi, Inspector Augustine Apili, said that soldiers were trailing the tanker before the unfortunate accident, adding that it was caused by reckless driving by the suspected bunkerers to evade arrest.
