Ronaldo Reaches Another Landmark of Highest Goal Tally in a Champions League Season

Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo claimed the record for most goals in a Champions League season as Real Madrid routed Bayern Munich to seal their ticket for the Lisbon final. The world player of the year scored his 15th and 16th goals of the season in Europe to break the previous record of 14 goals in one season jointly held by Lionel Messi (2011-12, Barcelona), Ruud van Nistelrooy (2002-03, Manchester United) and Jose Alfatini (1962-63, AC Milan). The 29-year-old now has 16 goals from 10 matches this season, and has now scored 67th goals in his Champions League career, the same number as Messi and four shy of the record currently held by former Real and Schalke striker Raul.
