CAN Urges Nigerians To Reflect On Unity At Easter

The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Ayo Oritsejafor, has called on Nigerians to use the occasion of Easter to reflect on the nation’s unity and progress. The call was contained in a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja by the CAN president to mark the Easter celebration. According to Mr. Oritsejafor, Easter is the commemoration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and remains a period for sober reflection by all Christians. “The death of Jesus on the Cross of Calvary signifies total redemption for mankind; so Nigerians must not lose sight of this fact. “We must endeavour to imbibe the good virtues of Jesus who laid his life for the sins of the world”, Mr. Oritsejafor said. Easter, he said, remained one of the most important pillars of Christianity because Jesus died and resurrected on the third day. He challenged Nigerians to live peacefully with one another irrespective of religious, tribal and political differences. The cleric also appealed to all political office holders in the country to watch their utterances ahead of the 2015 general elections. Mr. Oritsejafor, who expressed optimism that Nigeria would overcome its current challenges, called for more prayers for the country to emerge stronger.
