UPDATE: #BringBackOurGirls Movement Leader, Arrested on Patience Jonathan's Orders, Whisked Away to Unknown Destination
Mrs. Naomi Mutah Nyadar, leader of the movement that urges the Nigerian Government to do everything possible to rescue the over 200 girls who still remain in Boko Haram captivity, has been arrested "following the orders of Mrs. Patience Jonathan".
Latest reports by the Premium Times indicate that Mrs. Nyadar has been taken away from the Asokoro police station, where she was initially detained, to an unknown destination. Since she has apparently entered a van belonging to the Presidency, she might be returning to the Presidential Villa - a secluded area that is out of reach for the protesters who had gathered around the police station demanding Nyadar's release.
In early hours of Monday, Mrs. Nyadar was escorted by the police from her home in Abuja.
Her legal representative, Samuel Ogala, of the Falana and Falana Chambers, disclosed to Premium Times that the arrest is most probably a consequence to the protests Mrs. Nyadar has led, for instance, the one at the Unity Fountain which is near the venue of the planned World Economic Forum. Also according to her lawyers, she has been detained"arbitrarily,"as there is no documentary confirmation of her arrest at the station.
Mrs. Nyadar's "comrade-in-arms," Saratu Angus Ndirpaya, resident of Chibok town, narrated to the Associated Press how the two of them were detained by the police on the orders of Patience Jonathan after attending an all-night meeting at the Presidential Villa. Dame Jonathan, according to Ndirpaya, accused both of them of belonging to Boko Haram, fabricating the abductions to give Nigeria's government and her husband"a bad name"and not willing to support"her husband's rule".
According to BBC sources, Dame Jonathan felt"slighted"that the mothers of the abducted girls had chosen Mrs. Nyadar to represent them.
AP could not reach the police for commentary, but Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has taken to Twitter to post updates on the development.

It would be recalled that over 200 girls from Chibok town, aged mostly from 16 to 18 years, are still in the Boko Haram insurgents' captivity. Mass demonstrations have been held all over Nigeria, with thousands of supporters from abroad drawing attention to the #BringBackOurGirls movement.
