Nollywood Filmmaker Amake Igwe to Be Buried on June 13

Prominent Nollywood filmmaker, Amaka Igwe, 51, died on April 28 due to complications from asthma. She will be buried on Friday, June 13. She will be laid to rest at Ndiuche Arondizuogu in Imo State, her marital home.

Events scheduled preceding her funeral include a tribute evening and Service of Songs at Haven Gardens GRA, Ikeja, on June 9. Another event comprising Service of Songs at Okpara Square, Enugu, will take place on June 12.
A tribute website, www.amakaigwe.ng, has been created for people who want to give goodwill messages and pictures. It will also have messages and tweets from Facebook and Twitter celebrating Amaka Igwe.

With time, pictures when she was alive and speeches given by Amake Igwe during that time would be uploaded on the site. Amaka Igwe is survived by Charles Igwe, husband of 21 years, three children, mother and siblings.

In past 25 years, she is known for her valuable contributions to the development of indigenous television drama and Nollywood. In 2011, President Goodluck Jonathan even awarded her an MFR, considered to be one of the proudest moments of her life.

She attracted limelight as a writer and producer with her award-winning TV soap, Checkmate' and it's off shoot, Fuji House of Commotion. To talk about her Nollywood projects, they include 'Rattle Snake' and Violated'. Both the movies have been critically acclaimed.

Amake Igwe is the founder of BoBTV Film and Television Programmes Expo, founder and CEO of Top Radio 90.9FM, Amaka Igwe Studios and the newly opened Q Entertainment Network.
