Brazil 2014: Eagles not ready for World Cup - Keshi

Super Eagles head coach, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi, has noted that it is too early to give Nigerians any form of assurance regarding the readiness of his team for the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup, urging them to exercise patience until the team resumes camping. Speaking toDaily Sunsportson telephone in Abuja on what Nigerians should expect of the Super Eagles' participation in the world football fiesta holding between June 12 and July 13 in Brazil, Keshi maintained that he wants to first finalise the issue of provisional team list, look at the form and fitness of his players in camp before giving any form of promise. "What kind of promise or assurance you want me to give Nigerians when we have not even started camping. In fact, I have not even finalized the issue of the provisional team list. "I think Nigerians should wait until we start camping first and I see the form and fitness of my players before we start talking about promise or assurance. For now, it is just too early to give them any promise," he said. Speaking further, he made special appeal to the media to stop fanning amber of discord between him and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), stressing that it discomforts him when people find joy in provoking rift close to the World Cup. "We should be concerned about the arrangements we should put in place to help us have a fruitful participation at the World Cup. I'm getting very uncomfortable with this idea of crisis all the time. The media must help us in this situation especially now that we are counting few weeks to the tournament. The media must do more in writing good things about the players and the team. This is the time to project the image of the team and players positively to the world. The idea of writing negative reports about the team and players is not good for the image of the country," he pleaded.
