Davido, Samuel Eto’o, Adebayor Post Banana Photos In Support Of Barcelona’s Dani Alves
After Barcelona defender Dani Alves ate the banana that was thrown at him, he started a revolution. Right now, it’s taken over the social media.
The racist incident happened during Barcelona’s match against Villarreal on Sunday, when a banana was thrown onto the pitch towards Dani Alves as he went to take a corner. Everyone was amazed as Dani picked it up, peeled it back and ate it. And since then, he has been receiving massive support against racism.
Speaking after the match Alves said:
“We have suffered this in Spain for some time, you have to take it with a dose of humour. We aren’t going to change things easily. If you don’t give it importance, they don’t achieve their objective. I don’t know who it was, but thanks to whoever threw the banana, the potassium gave me the energy for the two crosses which led to a goal.”
The banana thrower has been identified and banned for life from games at the El Madrigal Stadium. The banana campaign for Alves has also gone viral. With even Davido sharing his own photo.

Boko Haram bombs church, kills 8 in fresh attack in Kubla
No fewer than eight people were killed in a gun attack by suspected members of the Islamist insurgents, Boko Haram, in Kubla Village of Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State, where they set places of worship and residential houses ablaze during their raid.
Some residents of the affected village, who fled the area, said they were attacked by gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram members in the early hours of yesterday.
“They used explosives during the attack on the churches and many people lost their lives,” villagers recounted, as one of the residents, who identified himself as Heldia Apogu, said, “I cannot actually say how many people were kill but I saw about six dead bodies being evacuated.”
Another resident claimed that some houses were also attacked by the gunmen who took some men as hostages.
“I saw some people crying, saying their relations had been taken away as hostages by the gunmen,” the resident, who craved anonymity, said.
Efforts to get military and police authorities comment on the incident did not yield result at the time of filling this report but the Chairman of Madagali LG, James Abawu Watharda, said eight people lost their lives during the attack.
Watharda said soldiers have sealed up the area and were hunting for the fleeing attackers, adding that “eight people were killed and two churches, and some houses, were set ablaze by the attackers, while all the villagers have fled.
Madagali Local Government is bordering Gwoza Local Government of Borno State, which has experienced series of insurgent attacks since the declaration of the state of emergency.
57-year-old vice principal defiles 12-year-old student
A 57-year-old vice -principal of a school, Mr. Taiwo Ajayi, has been caught defiling a 12-year-old student of his school.According to a police statement in Ado Ekiti, yesterday, Ajayi was said to have allegedly committed the offence inside his office at Saint Mary’s Girls Grammar School, Ikole Ekiti.
According to the police image maker, Mr Victor Babayemi, one of the staff in the school had reported the matter to the police after suspecting the movement of the young girl (names withheld) inside the vice principal’s office.
According to Babayemi, “the witness became apprehensive when the student, after spending a considerable time in the VP’s office, did not come out.
“The witness went near the door and discovered it was bolted from behind, she knocked and the movements, sounds and subsequent demeanor of both the suspect and the victim gave them away.”
According to the police image maker, investigation revealed that the suspect had a similar case in the past which was not reported and added that the victim also admitted that the suspect had carnal knowledge of her on his table.
“The report of a medical examination confirmed that the victim’s hymen is not intact,” Babayemi said
Ajayi was, however, said to have denied the allegation
“With the evidence against him, he will soon be arraigned in court for defilement,” according to the police.
Mysterious Fetish Pot Appears Near Government House In Benue
There was panic among staff and security personnel on Tuesday after a mysterious pot containing fetish things was spotted at the Benue State Government House roundabout in Makurdi.
According to sources, the pot which contained palm oil, pork meat and something that looked like red kola nut was seen as early as 4am and it is believed it may have been dropped there during the wee hours.
When news of the mysterious pot got to the government house, most of the staff were said to have locked themselves in, the governor’s personal aides reportedly refused to come out of their offices.
Even security men attached to the government house moved away from their original spot on sighting the pot.
Why the pot was deposited at that spot or who deposited it is yet unknown
It is not clear if the pot has anything to do with politics but people are already insinuating it may not be unconnected to the governorship race in the state for the 2015 general elections.
China Is Building World’s First Video Game Stadium
Located in the country’s Guangdong province and off the coast of gambling paradise Macau, Hengqin Island will play host to a 15,000 seat arena designed specifically for competitive video game events.
The stadium will be the centerpiece of a $2.8 billion gaming theme park currently dubbed the ‘V-Zone’. The first phase of the park’s development is expected to be complete in 2017 and will cost roughly $480 million.
“We started with a blank sheet of paper, and we were looking for what would be the fastest-growing field in the world,” Chew Fook Aun, chairman of Lai Fung, which is overseeing development on the overall project, told Bloomberg. “The trends were with video gaming.”
Major League Gaming will run the stadium’s operations, and events will be streamed on MLG.tv.
It was a bit of a fight to convince a New York consulting firm that’s helping on the project, though. That company lobbied for several other themes, including music and cars.
But gaming is huge in China. Over 500 million people in the country play video games, 145 million of which play for more than an hour a day, according to analysis firm EEDAR.
It’s just the latest sign that eSports is here to stay. Last year’s League of Legends finals sold out the Staples Center in Los Angeles in just one hour, with scalpers commanding prices of up to $2,000 per seat soon afterward. Over 32 million tuned in at some point to watch the finals online.
Major League Gaming says it has seen a 1,376 percent increase in MLG.tv viewership in the first quarter of this year, with 60 percent month over month growth since the platform launched late last year.
“MLG has been at the forefront of the global eSports phenomenon for over a decade and we’re taking our leadership position to new heights with this expansion into the world’s fastest growing eSports market – China,” said Mike Sepso, President and co-founder. “This is yet another step in our plan to make eSports and MLG a part of mainstream culture worldwide.”
I Can’t Accept A N500,000 Monthly Salary
I came across an interview that revealed a 22 year old Nigerian entrepreneur who stated clearly that if he is offered a job with a monthly take home of N500,000 as salary that he will not accept it!
His name is Muhammad Abdullahi Salisu, who emerged one of the top 10 leading entrepreneurs out of the 50 shortlisted small and medium enterprises owners in the 2014 edition of the Etisalat Easybusiness Millionaires Hunt, winning a whooping sum of N2m in the process.
In this interview, Salisu explained how studying Bio-Chemistry in the university and passion for providing solutions to the problem of waste management triggered his interest in the recycling business.
Let’s read the interview as culled from the Sunday Trust of April 27, 2014 Vol.8 No.46:
What informed your venture into waste recycling?
I studied Bio-Chemistry at the Ahmadu Bello Univeristy (ABU), Zaria, Nigeria and graduated this year. While in the university, we developed interest in the chemistry of waste materials – that is, the main recycling process.
After graduation, three of my friends – Sufiana Habeeb from Bauchi State, Idris Mansha and Ahmad Abdulkadir Koroso both from Kano State and I decided to source for funds and start a recycling business. We realized there are lots of opportunities in the business and decided to venture into it. In Kano State alone, there is waste of about 9000 metric tons already in the recycling process.
How long have you been in this business?
Our business is now 20 months old. Our medium-to-long term plan is to expand the business to industrial conversion of plastic waste to agricultural materials like plastic baskets for farmers. We also want to establish other to recycling centers – one in Azari, Bauchi State and the other in Zaria, Kaduna State.
We hope within the next 10 years to become one of the best waste management companies in the world.
How lucrative would you say the recycling business is?
The recycling business is very lucrative because the return on investment (ROI) is about 65 per cent. We were able to generate N2.5 million in the first year we started the business.
Now, even if I am offered a job that can fetch me N500,000 per month, I won’t accept it because I already have a stable business. Of course, I can’t leave this business for any white collar job.
How do you think the Etisalat training would impact on your business?
I am very happy participating in the Etisalat 2014 entrepreneurial training. I have gained a lot because I didn’t have this kind of training in school. Now, I have been equipped with the knowledge that can help our business grow.
In the course of the training, I have met with people who are in the same kind of business both in Lagos and beyond and we are looking at the possibility of partnering together. I have also been made to know other tools peculiar to the business which I didn’t know prior to this time.
What have been your challenges in the business?
The main challenge has been funds. But with the N2 million Etisalat gave me, we have some capital to ginger the business. I intend buying a recycling machinery that can be used continuously for two to three years. We will source raw materials locally within communities around us.
What is your advice to Nigerian youths, especially the undergraduates, on entrepreneurship?
My advice to fellow Nigerian youths is that they should start doing something meaningful on enterprise while in the university. For example, we developed our own idea while we were in the university. Students shouldn’t wait until they graduate before they can start doing something productive.
After finishing their degree programmes, they can start expanding their business ideas. There are lots of opportunities in the country and they should look into them and find where their ideas fit in to be self-employed, rather than forever look for jobs that aren’t just available.
About the Etisalat Easy Business Millionaire Hunt
“We at Etisalat believe that by helping to empower SMEs, the generation of more job opportunities can easily be achieved. It is important to us at Etisalat that we do a good job. But more than that, we aspire to see our customers also do a good job while using our services. We aim to help these companies grow just as we have grown over the last five years,” said Mr. Matthew Willsher, the acting Chief Executive Officer, Etisalat Nigeria.
In this year’s Etisalat Easy Business Millionaire Hunt, ten (10) entrepreneurs were adjudged to have exceptional business ideas with each winning N2m to help them actualise their plans as well as six months’ mentorship programme at the Enterprise Development Centre of Pan-Atlantic University to guide them.
The winners were: Abdulazeez Ibrahim, Oluwayomi Ojo, Idongesit Umoh,Muhammad Salisu Abdullahi, Nwachinemere Emeka, Eberenna Nwanjoku, Opeyemi Ajayi, Bosede Olanihun, Joseph Eze and Adesuwa Ojumola.
What do you make out of this young 22 year old guy?

Introduction
Toyota’s best-selling 5-passenger Camry sedan gets a significant makeover for the 2015 model year. Sporting a fresh new look with added technology features, the new Camry also offers improved handling and what the company claims are higher-grade interior materials. Gas and hybrid models will continue to be offered, while two new trim levels expand the lineup to a total of seven variants.
Exterior Features
Like the recently redesigned Corolla, the 2015 Toyota Camry wears sportier, more aggressively styled sheet metal compared with its former self, highlighted by sleek headlights and LED daytime running lights, sculpted lines on the car’s hood and flanks, a prominent grille, and a reshaped front bumper that resembles those found on new Lexus models. Toyota claims the 2015 Camry’s exterior is completely new, with the exception of the roof panel. In the transformation process, the sedan has been stretched nearly 2 in. in length, though its track was widened by less than half an inch.
Buyers will have their choice of gas or hybrid LE and XLE trims; the former also comes in base L, sporty SE, and new-for-2015 XSE versions, while the latter can be ordered in SE guise (first introduced as a 2014.5 limited-edition variant). Camry SE and XSE models add features including a mesh grille and unique alloy wheels.
Interior Features
In an effort to give the 2015 Camry a more premium feel, Toyota focused on decreasing cabin noise and trimmed the cabin in soft-touch materials. Depending on which trim level is selected, occupants will find themselves sitting on cloth-, leather, or ultrasuede-clad seats. Designers have also worked to up the convenience factor by incorporating greater center-console storage and a 4.2-in. informational display screen within the gauge cluster.
From a styling perspective, the 2015 Toyota Camry’s interior hasn’t changed significantly, though a keen eye will notice the elimination of the dash-top clock, redesigned steering wheel controls, and an updated instrument panel.
Toyota has not released details about standard features, but expect highlights such as Bluetooth connectivity and the touch-screen infotainment system to be carried over, along with navigation for the XLE.
Optional Features
For 2015, the most notable new option is a handy wireless charging station that should help drivers and passengers keep their overworked smartphones topped off. This feature debuted on the Toyota Avalon and is also being featured on new Lexus models. Auto-leveling LED headlights, once reserved for pricey luxury cars, are another upgrade to be offered on the 2015 Camry.
Under the Hood
Though Toyota has done a fair amount of tweaking to distinguish the front-wheel-drive (FWD) 2015 Camry from its predecessor, the company didn’t make any changes to the powertrains. The base engine will continue to be a direct-injection, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder that produces 178 horsepower and 170 lb.-ft. of torque. Those who crave greater performance can instead opt for an available 3.5-liter V-6 that delivers 268 horsepower and 248 lb.-ft. of torque. Both are mated with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The Camry Hybrid is equipped with a 2.5-liter, Atkinson-cycle 4-cylinder engine that’s joined by a 105-kW electric motor, 650-volt nickel-metal hydride battery pack, and a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Net output is 200 horsepower.
While no adjustments were made under the hood, Toyota did re-engineer the Camry’s chassis to improve handling and bolted sport-tuned components to the XSE. The Hybrid SE’s underpinnings have also been specifically calibrated to provide a more engaging experience behind the wheel, according to Toyota.
Fuel Economy
EPA figures are not currently available for the 2015 Toyota Camry, but given the lack of updates under the hood, fuel economy should mirror or closely resemble 2014′s estimates. As expected, the Camry Hybrid proves to be the most miserly with expectations of 43 mpg in the city, 39 mpg on the highway, and 41 mpg combined, according to the EPA. Next is the base 4-cylinder engine, rated at 25 mpg around town and 35 mpg on the freeway. The least efficient option is the 3.5-liter V-6, which should average 21 mpg and a respectable 31 mpg on the highway.
Safety
As this preview is written, neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has published crash-test results for the redesigned 2015 Toyota Camry. The outgoing model earned top marks from both organizations, thanks in part to features including 4-wheel anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist, front active head restraints, and 10 air bags.
Technology
While they may not have a direct impact on crash ratings, a number of available technologies serve to enhance the safety of Camry occupants, as well as those outside of the car. These include intelligent cruise control, a rearview camera, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring system, and rear cross-traffic alert.
Atletico Madrid Trash Chelsea To Book A Place In Champions League Final
Spanish club, Atletico Madrid have defeated Chelsea 3-1 in the Champions League semifinal second leg played on Wednesday at Stamford Bridge, London, England.
The Diego Simeone side produced an inspired display of counter-attacking football to beat Jose Mourinho’s team and set up an all-Spanish final against city rivals Real Madrid.Goals from Adrian Lopez in the 44th minute, a penalty from Diego Costa and Arda Turan gave Atletico a 3-1 aggregate victory after last week’s goalless draw in Madrid.
The result put the 2013 Europa Cup winners into the final of Europe’s elite competition for the first time since 1974.Chelsea took the lead after 36 minutes when former Atletico favourite Fernando Torres scored with a deflected shot, but the goal inspired the La Liga leaders who will meet their neighbours in the first European final to feature two clubs from the same city in Lisbon in May.
Commenting on the result after the match, Peter Okoye of P-Square, a Chelsea fan, tweeted on his twitter handle: “Weldon#Teamchelsea. Still proud of the blues.#CFC”
Argentine Legend, Diego Maradona was among those that watched the explosive match in London tonight.Jose Mourinho said after the match: Jose: “The players gave everything tonight. I am happy with them. They lost, but they lost against a very good team. That’s football’.
“Next season will be better than this season – that’s our objective – the objective of everybody.”We had a slight advantage in the first half in the way we controlled the game. 1-1 in the second half made it completely open.
“Were Atletico the best side over two legs? Probably yes.”Congratulations to them because they are a very good side and what they are doing in Spanish league is fantastic.”
Facebook to place ads in other apps
Facebook is to start serving ads to third-party mobile apps via a new advertising network.
It announced the move at the start of its F8 developers conference, which is being held in San Francisco.
The decision to launch the Audience Network has the potential to disrupt the ad sector thanks to the depth of knowledge the firm has about its users.
But one company watcher said the social network would need to be wary of privacy concerns.
"Facebook will have to make sure from the outset that it sets some stringent guidelines as to exactly the type of data that it shares with advertisers," Lara O'Reilly, senior reporter at MarketingWeek magazine, told the BBC.
"This is moving away from the Facebook platform, where people feel a little bit more comfortable with targeted advertising, onto mobile app screens, which people can feel are very personal."
Facebook's software can be used to place ads at the top of the screen or within the apps
The platform could become a huge money spinner. An industry study suggested morethan £1bn was spent on mobile ads in the UK alone in 2013, a rise of 93% on the previous year.
Facebook suggested it would deliver better click-through rates than its rivals because it had a better chance of delivering "relevant and interesting" material to the public.
"The mobile ecosystem needs a way to deliver these kind of native, personalised ads to people, and I'm glad that we can deliver more than one million active advertisers to your apps," said Facebook's chief executive Mark Zuckerberg at the conference.
Facebook v Twitter
The social network is entering a competitive space. In addition to Google's AdMob and Apple's iAds platforms, several smaller firms are also competing to provide the adverts shown on mobile phones and tablets.
Flappy Bird was reported to have earned $50,000 a day through ads
Millennial Media, Flurry and Nexage are all promoting their own versions of "programmatic buying" - a way for firms to target their ads at a specific type of consumer via a chosen type of app at an appropriate time and geographic location.
Twitter - another social network - has already moved into the area following its acquisition of the MoPub mobile advertising network last year.
It recently started letting clients buy ads on both the Twitter feed and MoPub using the same software, as it starts to integrate the products.
But Ms O'Reilly thinks Facebook will ultimately gain the edge because it has access to more information.
"The problem for Twitter is the amount of verifiable data it has on users - their interests and likes," she said.
"Their tweets can sometimes be false and obviously people don't have to give information about how old they are, the types of movies they like and so on.
"The interest in Facebook is that its Audience Network will be a way to leverage all the data that Facebook has but away from its own platform."
Anonymous access
Other announcements made at F8 included news that Facebook is changing the way data is shared with other developers.
In the past the network's members had been able to authorise third-party apps to obtain information about their Facebook friends.
That is now changing so that each user instead has to give permission to an app before it can see any data about them.
Facebook is introducing a new anonymous login function to address privacy concerns
In addition, the firm is also introducing a new function called Anonymous Login.
This will allow users to access a third-party service via their Facebook ID, but do so without releasing any details about them.
The aim is to allow people to try out apps that rely on them having a Facebook login without the user having to reveal who they are until they feel that they can trust the new software.
Mr Zuckerberg described it as a way to test "apps without fear".
Like buttons are coming to mobile apps
Facebook also revealed it would be making a tool available to developers to add its "like" button to their apps, allowing users to highlight and share content they had seen via the social network.
This should both drive more traffic to the third-party apps and provide Facebook with more data to target its ads.
Chelsea bows to superior Atletico Madrid, Chelsea 1-3 Atletico Madrid (agg 1-3)
Chelsea's hopes of reaching a third Champions League final in six years were ended as Atletico Madrid produced a stunning counter-attacking display at Stamford Bridge to set up a final against city rivals Real.
Jose Mourinho's side went ahead in the tie when Fernando Torres put Chelsea in front with a goal against his former club nine minutes before half-time.
But Chelsea allowed Atletico back into the match just before the interval, as Adrian Lopez scrambled home.
With Atletico ahead on the away goals rule following a goalless first leg, Chelsea needed to score to reach the Lisbon final but it was the Spaniards who struck again, Diego Costa putting them in front from the penalty spot before the excellent Arda Turan added a third with 18 minutes remaining.
At the final whistle, the visitors danced in front of their fans as John Terry stood in the centre circle and shed tears. It is the first time Atletico have reached a European Cup final since 1972 - and their meeting with Real will be the first time two clubs from the same city have ever contested the final.
For Mourinho and Chelsea, this had been an opportunity to exorcise the spirits of semi-finals past, not create more. To "ghost" goals, penalty shootouts, high-profile rows with Norwegian referees, add this painful defeat.
Mourinho had reached this stage of the competition in each of the past five seasons, but in that time has only managed to reach the final in 2010, when he won it with Inter Milan.
The script appeared to have been written for the Portuguese to return to Lisbon to face Real Madrid, the club he left amid accusations of failure.
Atletico had other ideas and a fairytale of their own to write. Central to their victory was the performance of their goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, on loan from Chelsea. During a frantic second half, he denied Terry and David Luiz just as it seemed Chelsea might find a way back into the tie.
There had been early warning signs for Chelsea, even though for much of the opening 40 minutes they had looked in total control.
Koke's fourth-minute cross drifted onto Mark Schwarzer's crossbar, but in the early moments it was Chelsea who threatened.
Torres led the line with purpose from the outset, playing with the kind of vim and vigour that he had in making his name in the red and white of Atletico. Willian curled a free-kick over the bar, before Luiz produced an acrobatic overhead kick that went wide.
Atletico came into the game on the back of a ninth successive La Liga win, with a sixth successive clean sheet. It took a former idol to break that streak as Torres fired Chelsea in front after 36 minutes following fine work by Willian and Cesar Azpilicueta wide on the right. Torres raised his hands as if to apologise to the travelling supporters who once idolised him.
But within eight minutes Atletico were back in the tie, as Chelsea switched off with half-time approaching. Tiago floated a ball to the far post, where an unmarked Juanfran pulled it back across for Lopez to stroke into an empty net. It was the classic sucker-punch.
Worse was still to come for Chelsea. Substitute Samuel Eto'o collided with Costa in front of the referee. The Spain international stepped up and buried the spot kick to silence Stamford Bridge.
With Chelsea needing to push for a goal of their own, wide open spaces began to appear for Atletico and they took full advantage.
This was a counter-attack as decisive and devastating as the ones perfected by their city neighbours at Bayern Munich on Tuesday. Koke's cross from wide on the right found Turan charging at the back post. His initial header was tipped onto the bar but the Turk followed up to ram home the rebound and put the result beyond doubt.
Mourinho turned to his staff, knowing the game was up.
Woman bags 5 months in prison for beating 2- year-old to a state of coma
An Upper Area Court in Kado, Abuja, on Wednesday sentenced a 43-year-old woman, Janet Moses to five months in prison for beating a two-year-old boy to a state of coma.
The judge, Mr Abubakar Sadiq, sentenced Moses after she pleaded guilty to a one count charge of cruelty to a child.
Sadiq, however, gave the convict an option to pay a fine of N10, 000.
He said the sentence was to serve as a deterrent to others who might want to engage in similar acts.
The judge also warned the convict to desist from such acts and be of good behaviour.
He said the child, who has since recovered, was now with the social welfare officials and would soon be reunited with his parents who are in Maiduguri.
The convict was arraigned by the police on March 31 and was convicted after pleading guilty to the charge but her sentence was deferred.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Simon Ibrahim, had told the court that Mrs Aisha Muhammed of the same address lodged a report against the convict at the Mabushi police station on March 22.
Ibrahim said convict beat up the two-year-old boy who was left in her custody.
He said the complainant returned home and saw the convict beating up the child who already had serious injuries all over him.
The prosecutor said during police investigation the convict confessed to have committed the crime.
He said the offence contravened the provision of section 238(b) of the Penal Code.
Actress Claims Ghost Had s*x With Her And She Enjoys It
A Ukranian-born actress is scaring up lots of publicity after making this outrageous claim: She’s had s*x with a ghost — twice.
Natasha Blasick made the spirited confession Tuesday morning on British TV show This Morning and said she found the experiences “really, really pleasurable.”
The first experience happened when she was alone in her room.
“I was laying in bed and then I felt something enter the room and I couldn’t see anybody,” she said, according to the Mirror. “I could feel that somebody was touching me and the hands were pushing me against my will and I could feel the weight of the body on top of me.
“I couldn’t see anybody but I could feel the pressure, the energy, the warmth pushing in different directions.”
She added: ”I enjoyed it.”
The ghost then left, but Blasick said it returned a month later for more, the New York Daily News reports.
Although Blasick is married, she said her ghost s*x antics have given her something more than traditional nookie ever could.
“It was fun. I think ever since I was a child I always wanted to know if there is anything more to this world, I was always asking the questions, and I think this made me feel kind of reassured that there is something more than what we can see with the unclad eye,” she said, according toDigitalSpy.com. ”It gave me comfort and support and love, and it did answer questions for me that there is something else out there.”
Blasick isn’t the first performer to extol the virtues of ghost s*x.
In September, Kesha revealed to Ryan Seacrest that a randy romp with a male ghosthelped give birth to her new song, “Supernatural.”
“It’s about experiences with the supernatural… but in a sexy way,” she told Seacrest. “I had a couple of experiences with the supernatural. I don’t know his name! He was a ghost! I’m very open to it.”
Claims like Blasick’s arouse skepticism from paranormal experts.
Alexandra Holzer, a ghost researcher and HuffPost blogger, says people who experience ghost s*x don’t feel “warmth” of the kind that Blasick alleges.
“The people who report having s*x with a ghost report feeling pressure on them and even penetration, but ghosts don’t have warmth,” Holzer told HuffPost. “When they’re in the room, it’s a very cold environment.”
5 Natural Ways to Increase Your Chances of Getting Pregnant
Now, as you have made up your mind to have a baby, you must be searching for tips all over to increase your chances of conceiving as you want to break the news, as soon as possible. However, relax and do not get impatient if it takes time. Some women get pregnant easily while many often find it difficult to conceive. There is no need to get gloomy or feel anxious about your body. Try the following natural ways to increase your chances towards ‘parenthood’ considerably.
Healthy lifestyle
Ladies, this is not just for you, but for your husbands as well. When you are trying to conceive, it is important that you adopt a healthy lifestyle. The human body has the strength to tackle most of the serious problems by itself, but only when it is fit. Many couples attempt pregnancy while continuing with habits like drinking, smoking, and consuming drugs. Such habits not only affect your fertility, but also affect your unborn child once you conceive. So, it is time to kick alcohol and smoke off your life. Also, include light exercises as a part of your daily routine, as that too can help to boost your fertility, and ensure that you have a comfortable pregnancy as well.
Eat right
Yes, what you eat has an effect on your fertility, and this too is true for both the genders. Increase the intake of protein, iron, zinc, and vitamin C, because deficiencies of these have been linked to infertility and miscarriages. Add more of fresh fruits, oily fishes, meat, low-fat dairy products, beans, eggs, oysters, and nuts to your daily diet. Don’t forget to keep yourself well-hydrated during the day. Apart from plain water, lemon water is also known to be great for fertility.
Use a fertility monitor
Ovulation is the best time to conceive. But, do not rely on the traditional calendar method for predicting ovulation. Fertility charting is certainly a good way to keep a tab on your cycle; however, it is not a method to swear by, especially, if you have been trying to conceive for long and have still been unsuccessful. There are various fertility monitors or ovulation kits available in the market that can be used as a reliable method to identify the best time for getting pregnant.
Watch your weight
Apart from its other risks, obesity is a hindrance to pregnancy as well. Excess fat leads to overproduction of certain hormones that cause disruption with your fertility process. If you are overweight, workout to get your body mass index back to the desirable range even before you start trying. But that doesn’t mean that you get skinny, as that too can create problems in sustaining a healthy pregnancy.
Soak in some sunlight
Not many people know that exposure to sunlight can help to boost fertility in both men and women. According to researches, sunlight is the best natural source of vitamin D; and that helps to increase the levels of healthy hormones in both women and women, which makes conception easier. So, spend some time soaking in the sunlight, or plan a romantic holiday to a sun-kissed destination. Just make sure that you go out only during the ‘cool hours’, say early morning or late afternoon. Just because you are in a rush to get pregnant, does not mean you have to ‘make out’ like rabbits. Have regular intercourse around 3-4 times a week during your ovulation period. Also, remember to spark passion and romance while you are making love, as this too helps to increase the chances of conceiving. Apart from this, try to keep yourself stress-free and relaxed, to make your way towards ‘parenthood’ more smooth and quick. These are some natural and proven ways to increase chances of getting pregnant. While we wish that after incorporating them in your lifestyle, you should be able to break the happy news soon, do consult your medical practitioner before taking the path of parenthood.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West to wed in Los Angeles THIS WEEK… in ‘private courthouse wedding’
.Pair ‘have obtained a confidential marriage license ahead of the nuptials’
*.They were allegedly advised by their lawyers to have a wedding in America before their ceremonies in France
*.Their Parisian ceremony on May 24th is still expected to be an extravagant affair
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are set to wed in Los Angeles this week, it has been reported.
The couple, who are planning an extravagant ceremony in Paris, France, next month, will be saying ‘I do’ before the week’s out, according to TMZ.com.
However, while Kim and Kanye’s French nuptials on May 24th will no doubt be an over-the-top lavish do, this week’s ceremony is due to be a much more low-key affair.
Nuptials: Kim Kardashian, who wore a wedding dress on the cover of Vogue magazine, and Kanye West are said to wed this week, according to reports
After obtaining a ‘confidential’ marriage license in a bid to keep the news quiet, Kim and Kanye will be walking down the aisle in a ‘courthouse wedding’.
But in true Kardashian style, the pair are reportedly planning to celebrate becoming husband and wife at a do with friends and family following the ceremony.
The wedding comes after Kanye popped the question last October – four months after Kim gave birh to their daughter North West.

Pout and about: News of the wedding this week came after Kim was seen looking sleek in all-black at a studio in Los Angeles on Monday

Sticking to black: It remains to be seen what kind of outfit Kim chooses for the ‘private, courthouse wedding’
Kim and Kanye show off wedding style in Vogue
It was previously reported that Kim and Kanye were planning to have a ceremony in America, as wel as a further two in France, after their lawyers allegedly recommended a US wedding to avoid any legal issues.
A source said: ‘Typically, the U.S. recognizes citizens getting married in France, but dealing with a foreign government and paperwork could be a nightmare.
‘So just to make sure it’s legal, Kim and Kanye will first be having a civil ceremony in Southern California.’
The couple’s wedding plans were almost scuppered last month when they discovered that French law requires at least one of them to remain in France for at least 40 days before the wedding.
Lavish: Kim and Kanye, last pictured together in Paris on April 14th, are reported to be having one wedding in America and then a further two in France
Main venue: According to reports, one of the pair’s French weddings will take place at Chateau de Louveciennes just outside Paris
Although Kanye has owned an apartment in the city for three years, it’s not his main home and so the local mayor will make the final decision.
At the time a source told Radar: ‘Kim and Kanye were unaware until recently that France required a residency requirement prior to the marriage. Kanye has an apartment in Paris, but he doesn’t live there full time.’
And the French Embassy in Washington D.C confirmed the law saying: ‘All marriages must be performed by a French civil authority before any religious ceremony takes place. The mayor can authorise the deputy mayor or a city councillor to perform the ceremony in the town in which one of the parties to be married has resided for at least 40 days preceding the marriage.
‘These requirements cannot be waived.’
Bridesmaid to be: Kim and Kanye’s daughter North is expected to have a starring role in all the ceremonies
Their main wedding – which is rumoured to be held at Louis XIV-commissioned Chateau de Louveciennes – is expected to be an extravagant affair.
It’s thought Kim will have at least three outfit changes on the big day, with Azzedine Alaia expected to be one of the designers.
However, in an interview in February, Kim admitted she had changed her mind about what she wanted on her big day and was keen to have a smaller do.
She said: ‘We’re having a super, super small, intimate wedding. As we go along, we’re realizing we want it to be smaller and more intimate than people are imagining and thinking.’
MailOnline has contacted a representative for Kim for comment.
Teacher Caught In Classroom With 14-Year- Old Who Was Dressing Himself
A Texas teacher faces felony charges after she was allegedly caught in a portable classroom with a student.
Heather Lynn Miller was arrested Sunday night after a campus security guard at Katy Junior High School found the 46-year-old teacher in a trailer with a 14-year-old male student during a routine patrol.
Miller was allegedly seen “engaging in an inappropriate relationship” with the student, according to a statement released by the Katy Independent School District.
KPRC reports that Miller answered the door to the temporary classroom and told the guard that “everything was fine.” Suspicious, the guard looked past the woman and saw a 14-year-old student getting dressed.
Police aren’t discussing details of the case. Miller, who taught social studies, has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
“Providing a safe and secure learning environment is and will continue to be our top priority, and we will always act swiftly when that is compromised,” district officials said in a statement.
Miller has been charged with improper relationship with a student, according to police. She posted $50,000 bond and was released Monday.
Parents were shocked to learn of the allegations.
“You see too much of it these days,” one parent, who was not identified, told Fox Houston. “I suspect it’s always gone on, they just catch it more often now than they used to.”
Update: April 30, 9:30 a.m. – Miller made an appearance in court Tuesday, where she agreed not to contact her alleged victim. As the accused teacher walked out of the court room arm-in-arm with two supporters, she was met by a parent who has a child at Katy Junior High School, according to KHOU.
“You shouldn’t be around kids!” Cynthia Kaiser shouted down a hallway at Miller, who did not respond.
”There’s been too many kids getting defiled, getting abused and then why are these schools not checking to make sure these teachers are fit to be teachers?” Kaiser told KHOU.
The Katy ISD conducts background checks on all their teachers.
Those who know Miller encouraged others to hear her side of the story before judging her, the station reported earlier.
“It’s sad for me because I know Heather, and I’ve seen her as a sweetheart that loves her children,” neighbor Pat Trull told KHOU. “Give her a chance.”
Dominique Strauss-Kahn threatens legal action over sex club
Dominique Strauss-Kahn, former Managing Director of International Monetary Fund (IMF), who was disgraced by allegations of sexual misconduct, on Wednesday in Brussels threatened legal action over the name of a Belgian sex club.
The club is located in Blaton, 65 kilometres south-west of Brussels, near the French border.
Dominique Alderweireld, who goes by the name of Dodo, was due to inaugurate the night club named “DSK”, which he says stands for “Dodo’s Sex Klub.”
Strauss-Kahn said he would take every judicial measure to bring an end to the blatant breach of his name.
He said in a letter sent to Belga by his French lawyers that the initials chosen by Alderweireld identify him in the eyes of all.
Alderweireld said the name of his establishment has come to stay.
“I am keeping the name DSK, of course, It’s the Dodo Sex Club and has nothing to do with him.”
Alderweireld and Strauss-Kahn both face pimping charges in relation to an alleged prostitution ring at the luxury Hotel Carlton in the French city of Lille.
Cameroon ian Inmate Exposes Slave Labour In Chinese Prisons
An Australian woman living in Harlem found an apparent desperate plea for help from a Chinese prison-factory “slave” tucked inside her shopping bag from posh Saks Fifth Avenue.
Stephanie Wilson, 28, an Australian who lives in West Harlem and works in human rights, found the note after buying Hunter rain boots at the expensive department store in 2012, reports The New York Post.
“HELP! HELP! HELP! We are ill-treated and work like slaves for 13 hours every day producing these bags in bulk in the prison factory,” said the note, handwritten on lined paper and tucked into the bottom of her shopping bag.
“Thanks and sorry to bother you,” it added.
“I read the letter, and I just shook,” Ms Wilson told DNAinfo.
“I could not believe what I was reading.”
The note was signed “Tohnain Emmanuel Njong” and accompanied by a small colour picture of a man in an orange jacket.
The letter, which also included an e-mail address which included an email address on the back, triggered a desperate hunt for the man.
Ms Wilson sought the help of the DC-based Laogai Research Foundation, an advocacy group that fights human-rights abuses in Chinese prisons.
The group’s founder, Harry Wu, who spent 19 years in a Chinese prison factory, told The Post that he believes the letter is authentic and that he contacted the US Department of Homeland Security, which investigates allegations of slave labour.
Mr Wu said Njong took a big risk in writing the note.
“There would be solitary confinement until you confess and maybe later they increase your sentence — or even death,” Mr Wu told DNAinfo.
“They can just do anything they want,” he said of the Chinese government.
“But they have to care about international media and politics. If everybody speaks out, that can really impact the Chinese government.”
A man believed to be Njong was finally tracked down by DNAinfo through the e-mail on the note.
In a phone interview, he confirmed to the web site unusual details about the note.
He said he is from Cameroon and had been teaching English in China when he was imprisoned on bogus charges.
He said he secretly wrote five notes — several in French and the rest in English — from prison and put them in the bags.
He said he was released from prison after three years, in December 2013, and is now in Dubai.
European Children as Young As Four Are Addicted to Drugs and Alcohol, Statistics
Children as young as four are being treated for drug and booze addiction, shock figures reveal today.
Hundreds of youngsters are referred each year, according to a survey of every local council in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
And more than half the under 13s who needed help were treated for cannabis problems.
Andrew Brown, director of programmes at charity Mentor UK, admitted he was shocked by the findings.
He said: “We think it is vital that alcohol and drug education improves.
“Our own survey of teachers suggests that at the moment delivery is inconsistent, and that the norm is to timetable only one or two sessions a year.
“This may sound sufficient, but evidence would suggest that longer programmes that systematically build skills and values are much more likely to prevent young people from coming to harm than one-off lessons.”
Experts say the most common cause of children coming into contact with drugs and alcohol is through their parents.
A referral can mean the child is vulnerable to drug and alcohol misuse through exposure from a parent or other relative, or could have started abusing substances themselves.
Now charity bosses are calling for an urgent shake-up in drug education in both primary and secondary schools.
There are already plans for children in Year Six to be given lessons on the dangers of drugs from September.
Some 366 children aged 12 or under were referred for treatment in 2012/13, according to the most recent figures from Public Health England.
The new survey showed the youngest case was a four-year-old in South Ayrshire.
A number of eight-year-olds were treated in Waltham Forest and East Ayrshire, while some aged just nine were reported in Herefordshire, Liverpool, Oxfordshire, Rutland, the Scottish Borders and West Berkshire.
Almost 60% of under-13s who received treatment suffered from cannabis abuse, while about a third had problems related to alcohol and a small number were hooked on solvents.
Steve McCabe, Shadow Minister for Children and Families, said: “This would certainly tend to suggest that the Government’s current strategy towards drugs isn’t working.”
He said it highlighted the shortage of specialist treatment and the dangers of a drugs policy that is based on law enforcement issues rather than public health concerns.
Keith Vaz, chairman of the Commons Home Affairs Select Committee, added: “It’s vital that parents take responsibility and additional support is given to them in order to prevent children being exposed to drugs and alcohol in the first place.”
A Government spokeswoman said: “Both the old and the new curriculum are clear that all pupils should be taught about how drugs and other substances can be harmful.”
Jonathan Suspends FEC Meeting Over Vice President’s Brother’s Death
As President Goodluck Jonathan suspended the weekly Federal Executive Council over the death of his vice president’s younger brother, other related issues, and circumstances, are now unfolding in a fashion that may not be favorable to his office. Captain Sabo Sambo died in a still unexplained automobile accident recently. The FEC meetings, which were called off, was highly condemned by the president’s critics as against Federal Government’s normal practices, and, they said, shows a lack of consideration of the abducted 230 girls in Borno state by Boko Haram sect, as well.
SaharaReporters has learned that the Kaduna state governor, and godson of Vice President Namadi, Mukhtar Yero, had been relocated to Abuja. Core the functions of the governor in his state have been on held-off, pending his return. When he returns remains a question for many residents of that state.
Yero has been featured, conspicuously, say observers, in receiving guests stopping in to Abuja, the nation’s capital, to have an audience with his godfather since Sunday. It is a situation, and arrangement, many critics have condemned in the social media circles, as bad timing.
That bad timing comes with focus remaining keen in the killings that have occurred in his state, which his critics have said, the governor has also not visited the area where over 100 people were killed. Also, with his absence, it sends a message that he has not shown concern, or even interest, in recent events there.
Another source in Aso Rock told SaharaReporters that the governor is likely to return to Kaduna on Wednesday evening, or early Thursday, having left the state on Sunday. His whereabouts, or whether he is in transit, is unclear.
A few minutes before the publication of this story, SaharaReporters received a statement from the organization known by the acronym KASMO. Moh’d Musa Soba, who chairs the Kaduna Salvation Movement, or KASMO, condemned both the Federal and Kaduna state governments over these recent developments involving the governor.
Below is the statement:
The Kaduna Salvation Movement (KASMO) views the disgraceful and despicable double standard of our political leaders both in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities and moral obligations placed on us by our different cultures and respected religions.
It is ironic that while the entire country is being traumatized by the abduction of over 240 innocent schoolgirls, and the continuous killing of innocent souls across the country, not even a condolence visit was paid to the families of the bereaved and the distressed. But when the brother of Vice President Namadi Sambo, Captain Sabo Sambo died in a motor accident few days ago, the business of government was abruptly brought to an end with the postponement of even the weekly federal executive council meeting.
Almost all the states were shut down to commiserate with Sambo particularly Kaduna state where the governor relocated to Abuja for condolences.
While we sympathies with Sambo over his brother's demise, we condemn the attitude of turning personal issues into state matters while the real issues that border on the security of lives and property of ordinary Nigerians are treated with levity and criminal contempt. It is a shame that Nigerian political leaders only feel the pains when a tragedy struck their immediate families.
At press time, it is unclear if governor Mukhtar Yero is aware of the storm of controversy surrounding his visit to Abuja. It is not known if he has seen the KASMO statement of recent events concerning him, or if he plans to issue his own rebuttal.
Swansea guns for Ike Uche
Swansea City could make a summer move for Villarreal striker Ikechukwu Uche, [football] direct news understands.
The Swans are on the hunt for new signings upfront after finding themselves reliant on the goals of last summer's major purchase Wilfried Bony this season, with Spanish forward Michu also a big miss through injury for much of the campaign.
With the Welsh side now confirmed as safe from relegation for this season with back-to-back wins in the Premier League, manager Garry Monk is already thought to be identifying possible transfer targets to strengthen his squad for next season.
Uche has seemingly caught the eye with some strong performances in La Liga this season, and Swansea have been known for bringing in talent from the Spanish top flight before.
The Nigerian international, 30, has scored 12 goals for Villarreal this season, despite not always being a regular starter, and he looks like a player who could be well suited to the physical demands of the Premier League.
However, Uche has spent the vast majority of his career so far playing in Spain, having also represented Recreativo, Getafe and Zaragoza before moving to Villarreal in 2011.

A medical student in the United States who said she was ready to auction off her virginity to the highest online bidder for $400,000 (about N66million)has finally revealed her face despite fearing she'll be kicked out of university.
The 27-year-old, who uses the name Elizabeth Raine to protect her identity, previously hid her face in pictures and refused to reveal what she looked like.
However, she has now decided to go public in order to attract more bids.
"I actually didn't like the anonymity. People mistake it for shame," she told HuffPost.
Raine, whose mother died when she was 10, says she is selling her virginity for the money, but the adventure and scandal are also factors in her decision.
"I've been planning this for a year and I've had a personal transformation because of it," she said.
"I have a busy life. I am picky and guys were never a priority. I had other things going on."
She created a website for potential bidders to find out more about her and a blog explaining her decision to go 'from virgin to literal whore'.
The 27-year old's website features her posing in lingerie with her face hidden and information about the auction.
The student has promised the eventual winner a 12-hour date during which he will be offered her virginity.
She will also donate 35 per cent of the money she receives to a charity that brings education to women in developing countries.
Raine says she believes she can "control" the situation, as she is focused on detail; the winning bidder will have to provide Raine with proof that he has no sexually transmitted diseases and is willing to wear a condom.
He also may not be under the influence of booze or drugs during the encounter, nor may he attempt anal sex or treat her violently.
Raine said she's is open to kissing the winning bidder, and even holds out a small amount of hope that it might lead to something more.
"I wouldn't rule out love, but it's very unlikely," Raine said

REVELATION: Why Gulak Was Actually Sacked – Mu’azu
The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Adamu Mu'azu, has revealed why former Political Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan, Alhaji Ahmed Gulak, was sacked.
According to the ruling party chairman, Gulak was relieved of his duty due to his arrogance and alleged irrational disposition.
Mu'azu made this statement on Wednesday in Abuja while playing host to selected members of the Akwa Ibom State executive committee of the PDP.
The party chairman said he had agreed with the President that there would be no room for arrogant officials in the federal cabinet, adding that they must remain focused and committed to retain their positions in the cabinet.
It could be recalled that Gulak was sacked on Tuesday by President Jonathan without the Presidency stating reasons for the action.
* PDP Chairman, Adamu Mu'azu says Gulak was sacked because of his arrogance
Some reports had suggested that Gulak's sack was not unconnected with his visit to Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital last week to inaugurate the Goodluck Support Group (GSG) with a faction of the PDP in the state.
It was reported that Governor Godswill Akpabio raised objections to Gulak's actions, saying he was not informed of the visit by the ex presidential aide.
The governor also protested that Gulak met with party chieftains who were opposed to his administration.
It was gathered that Gov. Akpabio had called on the President to punish Gulak for allegedly undermining him by coming to inaugurate the GSG without involving him and his supporters.

FA Cup Victory Will Bring More Success- Theo Walcott
Theo Walcott believes Arsenal’s triumph in the FA Cup final could usher in “more and more trophies” in the coming seasons.
The Gunners look set to end their nine-year wait for major silverware by beating Hull City in the FA Cup final at Wembley on 17 May.
“If we win the FA Cup, which we have a great chance to do with the way we are playing, the players are going to want more trophies,” Walcott told Arsenal website.
Theo Walcott Celebrates Scoring for Arsenal.
“I think the first one is so important – once you win that, you’ll win more and more. I’m pretty sure of that.”
The 25-year-old English forward has not featured for the North London outfit since he sustained a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) of his left knee during Arsenal’s FA Cup third-round victory against Tottenham in January. He believes manager Arsene Wenger deserves a trophy this season, having endured several disappointments in recent years.
“It would be great for the boss to win a trophy again, too. He’s shown so much belief in us throughout the years. If we don’t play well, he always reflects it back on him, even though it’s our job to go out there each week and try to perform,” he added.
“That just shows how much faith he has in us all and it’s really important to him. The years just before I arrived here were unbelievable and he wants that again.”
Walcott is ruled out for the rest of the season and with the ‘Three Lions’ boss, Roy Hodgson, set to name his World Cup squad on Monday, 12 May, is not in contention for this summer’s tournament in Brazil

Protesters Chant ‘Bring Back Our Daughters’ In March To National Assembly
Nigerian protesters marched on the National Assembly Wednesday to demand the government and military do more to rescue scores of schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram gunmen at Government Girls Secondary School, in Chibok,Borno State, more than two weeks ago.
Dubbed “a million woman march” and promoted on Twitter under #BringBackOurGirls, the protest was not expected to draw a massive crowd and turn-out was hindered by heavy rain in the capital Abuja.
But several hundred women and men, mostly dressed in red, marched through the rain towards the National Assembly carrying placards that read “Find Our Daughters.”
Protest organiser Hadiza Bala Usman had earlier said that the size of the protest was less important than raising awareness about the plight of the hostages whose April 14 abduction at gunpoint from their school in the northeast has outraged Africa’s most populous nation.
“The government has to understand that we are not going to allow this silence to continue,” Usman said.
In the northern city of Kano, roughly 100 people dressed in black marched towards the state governor’s office, calling for the girls’ immediate release.
The mass kidnapping in the Chibok area of northeastern Borno state was one of the most shocking attacks in Boko Haram’s five-year extremist uprising, which has killed thousands across the north and centre of the country.
The leader of Chibok’s elders forum, Pogu Bitrus, told AFP that he had received information indicating the girls were trafficked into neighbouring Cameroon and Chad and sold as brides to insurgents for 2,000 naira ($12).
Parents have voiced fury at the military’s efforts, accusing the security services of ignoring their daughters’ plight.
Former World Bank vice president Obiageli Ezekwesili, also an ex-Nigerian cabinet member, has emerged as a leader of the #BringBackOurGirls movement and addressed protesters at Unity Fountain in Abuja as the march kicked off.
She accused the military of having “no coherent search-and-rescue” plan.
“We are going to the National Assembly because that is where each of these girls has a representative,” she said.
Bitrus said it was “unbelievable” that the military, which claims to be working around-the-clock to find the hostages, had not yet tracked down any of the kidnappers.
Locals have scoured the bushlands of the remote region, pooling money to buy fuel for motorcycles and cars to conduct their own rescue effort.
Usman condemned what she called the official complacency which has followed the abductions.
“If this happened anywhere else in the world, more than 200 girls kidnapped and no information for more than two weeks, the country would be brought to a standstill,” she told AFP.
Usman said she had been promised that the House Speaker Aminu Tambuwal and perhaps even President Goodluck Jonathan will speak to the protesters.
“We have booked an appointment,” she said. “We expect (both men) will come out and address us.”
Jonathan has faced scathing criticism over his handling of the Boko Haram conflict, which has already killed more than 1,500 people this year.
Speaking by phone from Chibok, a father of one of the kidnapped schoolgirls voiced hope that attention to his nightmare from protesters near the seat of government could make a difference.
“We are poor with no influence whatsoever, which we believe is the reason the government does not care about our girls,” said the father, requesting anonymity.
“We believe if Nigerians, the high and the low, raise their voices from different quarters it will make the government sit up and do the right thing to free our girls.”
U.S. inmate dies after failed lethal injection
A UNITED States death row inmate in Oklahoma died of a heart attack after his execution was halted because the lethal injection of three drugs failed to work properly.
The execution of Clayton Lockett, 38, was halted after 20 minutes, when one of his veins ruptured, preventing the drugs from taking full effect.
The execution of a fellow inmate, due two hours later, was postponed.
Both men had unsuccessfully challenged a state law that shields the identities of companies supplying the drugs.
It comes amid a wider debate over the legality of the three-drug method and whether its use violates guarantees in the U.S .constitution "against cruel and unusual punishment".
Lockett was sentenced to death for the 1999 shooting of a 19-year-old woman.
A spokesman for the Oklahoma Department of Corrections told reporters that Lockett had died of a heart attack following the injection of three lethal drugs.
"We believe that a vein was blown and the drugs were not working as they were designed to. The director ordered a halt to the execution," spokesman Jerry Massie said.
Nigeria wants civil war averted in Ukraine
NIGERIA has warned that a civil war in Ukraine can destabilise the international community and wants all concerned parties to resort to dialogue to resolve the conflict.
Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Prof. Joy Ogwu, made this known in New York on Tuesday night at a meeting of the UN Security Council on the situation in Ukraine.
Ogwu, who is currently the president of the Security Council for the month of April, spoke in her national capacity as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the UN.
Her comments came after Pro-Russia activists were reported to have stormed several more buildings in eastern Ukraine and kidnapped international monitors in the crisis-torn country.
``The situation in Ukraine remains tense and the risk of further escalation remains a matter of grave concern to the international community.
``Utmost care needs to be taken to ensure that the crisis does not degenerate into a civil war.
``If it does, it might become an internationalised conflict, with its attendant reverberations everywhere.’’
Ogwu said that Nigeria had followed with keen interest recent talks in Geneva on Ukraine which resulted in a joint statement issued by Russia, Ukraine, the EU and the U.S.
She noted that the Geneva Statement had called for the disarmament of all illegally armed groups, the return of seized buildings and amnesty for protesters.
She said that Nigeria strongly believes that the agreement reached in Geneva would constitute the basis for the peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine.
``This glimmer of hope, I’m afraid, is fast fading before our eyes as armed men continue to occupy buildings in eastern Ukraine and the level of violence is escalating.’’
Ogwu called for the immediate release of the kidnapped international monitors, and stressed that the way to lasting peace rested in dialogue by all concerned parties.
She said that the alternative of a military option would ``bleed the already-open veins of Ukraine’’ and a strong surgical procedure would be needed to mend those veins.
``Dear colleagues, the clock is ticking, Ukraine is the patient and this council and the international community constitute the surgical team.
``Let us stabilise and restore the patient to health or many more might bleed. It is a collective responsibility,’’ Ogwu told the 15-member council.
Meanwhile, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the council earlier on Tuesday voted unanimously to partially lift the arms embargo on Cote d’Ivoire, differentiating between lethal and non-lethal arms.
The council, in a meeting presided over by Nigeria also lifted the ban on importing rough diamonds from Cote d’Ivoire
China frees veteran dissident after nine years in prison
CHINA has released a veteran dissident imprisoned three times after he completed his latest nine-year sentence for subversion, rights groups said on Wednesday.
Xu Wanping 53, was sentenced to 12 years in prison in April 2005 in the south-western city of Chongqing for ``inciting subversion of state power,’’ but he received sentence reductions totaling three years while in jail.
Following his release on Tuesday, Xu told U.S.-based Radio Free Asia that his political views would not change in spite of his ordeal.
Xu suffered digestive, prostate and other health problems during his imprisonment, but he was denied medical treatment despite several requests, U.S.-based Human Rights in China reported.
His wife was ``beaten badly by prison authorities’’ during a visit to Xu, and prison authorities denied him permission to attend his mother's funeral, the group said.
Xu previously served eight years in prison after he took part in China's 1989 democracy movement.
In 1998, he was sentenced to three years at a Re-education through Labour centre for helping to found the Chinese Democracy Party.
Iran coach threatens Keshi
Iran coach, Carlos Queiroz will come face to face with Coach Stephen Keshi on June 16 in a Group F opening game of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil when his team take on the Super Eagles.
After the World Cup, the Portuguese born Iran trainer has another battle to contend with his Nigerian counterpart, this time in the African continent.
Carlos Queiroz and Keshi
With Carlos Queiroz strongly rumoured to be linked with the Bafana Bafana job when Gordon Igesund’s contract expires, it could be that the Portuguese will be auditioning for the role when he leads Iran at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The 61-year-old led Bafana Bafana from 2000 until 2002 where he enjoyed a reasonable amount of success. However, he cut his time short after reportedly falling out with the South African Football Association.
Earlier reports in Nigeria and South Africa had linked the Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi with the Bafana Bafana job but with the latest reports from South Africa, where Queiroz and his Iranian squad for World Cup have been camping for the past two weeks, it appears the battle for the Bafana job will be keener than expected.
Although Keshi insists that he has not been contacted by the South Africa Football Association, it is strongly believed that his romance with the Nigeria Football Federation would come to a soothing end after the World Cup and the next destination for the Afcon winner is thought to be South Africa.
While Keshi who led modest Togo to qualify for the 2006 World Cup and led Nigeria to the Africa Cup of Nations crown in 2013 is regarded as the most successful Nigerian tactician in history, Queiroz boasts experience of coaching at some of the best teams in the world like Manchester United, Real Madrid as well as the Portuguese national team.
Queiroz’s recent stint with Iran has also proved to be a huge success. He successfully led the lesser-known football nation to only their fourth appearance at the world’s showpiece tournament. The Lions are in a tough group alongside Argentina, Nigeria and Bosnia.
UCL: Cech out, Terry, Hazard in, says Mourinho
Chelseagoalkeeper Petr Cech will not be fit to face Atletico Madrid in Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final second leg despite returning to training, manager Jose Mourinho said on Tuesday.
“Obviously his condition doesn’t allow him to play, but the message from the group was exactly that: everybody is ready and everybody wants to play,” Mourinho told a press conference at Stamford Bridge.
“But of course his condition doesn’t given him a chance.”
Mourinho ruled Cech out for the rest of the season after he dislocated his shoulder in the early stages of last week’s away leg, which finished 0-0.
The Czech made an unexpected appearance at training on Tuesday, but it appears likely that 41-year-old Australian veteran Mark Schwarzer will continue to deputise against Spanish league leaders Atletico.
Mourinho also revealed that John Terry and Eden Hazard are in line to feature after both took part in training on Tuesday following spells on the sidelines.
Captain and centre-back Terry had to go off in the first leg after injuring his ankle and missed Sunday’s 2-0 win at Liverpool in the Premier League.
Asked if the former England captain, who appeared alongside him at Tuesday’s media conference, would start against Atletico, Mourinho replied: “Of course.”
Terry added: “I’m fully fit. I’ve trained now for three days and I feel OK.”
On Hazard, who has not played since injuring his calf in the second leg ofChelsea‘s quarter-final win over Paris Saint-Germain, Mourinho said: “He’s ready. It’s my option to start him or not to start him, but he’s ready.”
In further good news forChelsea, striker Samuel Eto’o also took part in training on Tuesday after sitting out the last two matches with a knee complaint.

Nigerians and the task of nation building
PRESENTLY, our country seems to be at crossroad. This is not the first time or the second and definitely may not be the last, because human lives just like every other thing is synonymous with change and challenges. They are inevitable and certain.
Before now, Nigerians have witnessed many leadership, socio-economic and security challenges, and had always overcome them, thereby keeping the country together for more than 100 years. The present security challenges confronting the country predate the present administration of President Goodluck Jonathan. It is also a common knowledge that terrorism is now a global challenge that must be dealt with headlong and collectively for it knows no boundary, religion or party affiliation.
The present terrorism challenge in Nigeria is not different from what has happened and still happening in different parts of the world. For the fact that Nigeria’s case is now restricted to some Northeastern states is a confirmation of the tremendous efforts of the security agents, the people and government of the country in combating the menace. One wonders what the situation would have been by now, if the insurgents have succeeded in taking over the whole country and plunge it into deep crisis. May be that would have been the end of the country called Nigeria, God forbid. Whether we like it or not, be it South, North, East or West, Christian or Muslim, Nigeria is our country and will remain ours. The task or burden of building the country, especially at this critical moment demands comprehensive involvement and collaboration between the leaders and the led.
We cannot run away from it or abdicate responsibilities because of the enormous challenges, unless we say we have collectively failed as a people. Solutions or panacea to the country’s problems must be eclectic, collective and committed. All hand must be on deck because the success or failure of the country has direct and great impact on all Nigerians both at home and in the Diaspora. Lest we forget, no place is like home and charity begins at home.
In trying to find solutions to our problems, we should be mindful and inspired by the likes of T. Joseph Benziger, the editor of the onlineDynamic Youth Magazinewho says that commitment never allows us to lose sight of our target. It is the battery that gives power to all types of activities. That is why it is considered most important for individuals and organisations as well. Without the help of committed employees no organisational goal can be attained.
“ Without displaying firm commitment no organisation can earn the goodwill of its customers. If the citizens are not fully committed to nation building, no country can progress and achieve peace and prosperity. This is because hurdles are those impediments which could be removed or overcome, if only we make determined efforts. We should identify the hurdles without wasting time. We should not allow them to discourage us. We should neither magnify nor minimise them.”
The above statement should be food-for-thought for all Nigerians at present. The ongoing blame game over insecurity and killings in the country between politicians and people from different ethnic and political divide at the moment is diversionary, divisive, ill-timed and unpatriotic. It is an ill-wind that blows no one any good. Countries like America, Britain and others have their own fair share of challenges before now, but they collectively and committedly dealt with them, despite their political-cum-socio-cultural differences. Till date they have not fully overcome all of them, but they have managed to live together peacefully as a people. President Goodluck Jonathan will not be the president of the country forever, and the country will outlive his administration.
But if Nigerians, irrespective of their tribe and religion, continue to be nonchalant about the challenges facing their country now, posterity and history will not judge them well as a people. This is not the time for anybody to sit on the fence, take sides or engage in pedestrian criticisms against any government or individual. It is a time of contribution and sacrifice for nation building. This is also the reason delegates at the ongoing National Conference must be mindful and conscious of what they say or do because Nigerians and the world are watching. If past National Conferences had failed for one reason or the other, the current mood of the country and the timing of the present Conference demand that it must not fail for any reason.
Delegates to the Conference were chosen based on their merit and the confidence the people had in them, so they should in return justify such confidence by coming out of the Conference with something very progressive, peaceful and developmental for the country. The delegates should realise that to whom much is given, much is expected, because Nigerians cannot afford to waste another huge taxpayers’ money for another jamboree.
They should know that Nigerians have expressed worry over unguarded and inflammatory utterances of some delegates at the Conference aimed at causing confusion or probably truncating the Conference. Some have even started fanning the embers of discord by calling for the balkanisation of the country into the North/South, but they fail to realise that no part of the world is insulated from crisis or terrorism. It is just a matter of time. Who told the people of Southern Sudan that they will not have peace today after more a decade of war to secure independence.
So to me, balkanising the country or not is not and may not be the ultimate solution to the country’s problems. Delegates at the Conference must eschew primordial sentiment, ethnic and religious bias and work towards a united country with purposeful leadership and followership that will outlive us all and lay a solid foundation for a new Nigeria of great hope and prosperity.
It would be recalled that 2005 National Conference was brought to abrupt end after the South-South delegates staged a walkout on June 14, 2005 over the contentious derivation principle and stayed away from further proceedings. The delegates from the oil-rich zone demanded an irreducible minimum of 50% derivation, but accepted in the interim 25% derivation with graduated increase to attain the 50% over a period of five years. But the northern delegates were opposed to it thereby splitting the conference into two opposing camps. Not even a meeting the then President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo held separately with the opposing groups could assuage their feelings. As a result of the demand, the conference ended without reaching a consensus on derivation funds, resource control and tenure of office for president and governors.
Already the trend is rearing its ugly head in the ongoing National Conference as different committees moved into discussions at committee stage. It is of utmost important for delegates to exercise caution and restraints, and be altruistic in handling all the issues slated for discussion at the committee stage. This is to avoid history repeating itself again, because it will be bad for the country if the present Conference ends like the previous ones. The unity, peace, and progress of the country supersede every other thing; Nigerians should abide by this belief and have faith and confidence in the country for a better and prosperous tomorrow. Just as former secretary general of United Nations Organisation (UNO) Mr. Kofi Anan said: “Whether our challenge is peacemaking, nation-building, democratisation or responding to natural or man-made disaster, we have seen that even the strongest amongst us cannot succeed alone.
