More on Nigerian Obesere rape scandal

The molest case involving popular Fuji musician, Abass Akande Obesere continues to unravel as a woman who claimed to have introduced the singer to his accuser, Olanike Olaiya has come out to put holes in her allegations. Olaiya, a 29-year-old businesswoman had accused Obesere of sexually abusing her and inserting a ring into her private part after forcefully having sex with her in his home in Lagos. According to Bola Okoro, Olaiya’s friend, the supposed victim had cooked up the story in a bid to extort money from the artiste saying the widely circulated molest story was untrue. Okoro said this on Friday whole speaking to journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. She told newsmen that she has been responsible for the upkeep of Olaiya and her daughter, Folawe, for more than five years adding that Olaiya had earlier revealed to her a plan to blackmail Obesere for N10 million. “I warned her not to try such a thing and I thought she had taken to my advice. Obesere is my business partner and I introduced Olanike to him in order for him to help her with her business without knowing that she had another plan to malign him. “She was with Obesere on Tuesday and called me that she would be coming to Ibadan to check on her child on Wednesday, but I told her to wait; that I was also coming to Lagos for a meeting, and she came to meet me at that meeting. “I was not aware that anything was wrong with her until we got to Ibadan, but I was surprised when Obesere called me that Olanike said she was bleeding that I should take her to the hospital,” Okoro said. “When I inquired about what was wrong, she told me that if I needed money, I should support her plan to collect N10 million from Obesere, but I refused. “I told her that I would never be part of that plan before she proceeded to Lagos and reported the alleged abuse at Okota Police Station,” she added. Okoro went further to reveal that the accusers’s real name is Morenike Kikelomo and not Olanike Olaiya that she’s widely been referred to. “She had been abandoned by her parents because of her waywardness before I took up her responsibility. “I have known Alhaji Obesere for over 12 years and he is a responsible, kind-hearted individual who cannot hurt a fly. I wonder why he would stoop so low as To Molest or use a girl for ritual when so many girls are out there who want to have him,” Okoro stated.

Nigerian Army kills over 210 Islamist Boko Haram

Over 210 suspected members of the Boko Haram sect have been killed in the past few days by security forces carrying out raid on Sambisa Forest, sources close to the operation and locals disclosed. It was gathered that hundreds of operatives of the army and the air force, in close collaboration with the State Security Service (SSS) and the police have destroyed many minor and satellite camps as well as enclaves of the Boko Haram terrorist group. The operation was described as a “major feat” by the military since the commencement of the state of emergency in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe States almost 10 month ago. The Nigerian security forces had come under serious criticisms over their alleged inability to contain the rampaging posture of the Boko Haram. Boko Haram fighters have killed over 500 people in attacks in the North-East in this year alone, in addition to sacking of dozens of villages and towns in the three states. But sources close to the recent operations and villagers said the clampdown on the insurgents was on-going, pointing out that it was yielding the desired results. Like never before, resources and manpower have been mobilized to volatile areas in Bama, Gwoza and Damboa local governments of Borno State, as well as around Gulani and Gujba local governments in Yobe State,” a security source said. All the areas mentioned above have routes that lead to the Sambisa Forest, which is seen as the biggest hideout of the Boko Haram insurgents. “This is a critical moment of our operation but we are making headway. The Sambisa (forest) is an unpredictable place. The terrorists have occupied it, dug countless tunnels and camps. “But we have got the architecture of the place, effectively cleared most camps around it and we are tactically routing out the assailants,” the source, who does not want to be mentioned, said. It was learnt that troops have also been mobilized to the northern parts of Borno State and the fringes of the Lake Chad and other communities close to Cameroon and Niger. “Two medium but dangerous camps have been cleared in Anagarno and Ajiri, while tiny enclaves spread across Kukawa/Baga, Abadam/Mallam Fatori, Gamboru Ngala, Dikwa and Mafa have been successfully uprooted with serious casualty on the side of the terrorists,” another senior security officer said. “In our various fields of operation, over 210 terrorists have been killed, many captured alive while hundreds of others are on the run, but we are pursuing them. (There is) no place for them to hide,” he said. |The source said the “recent success” was as a result of recent reorganization, re-strategizing and synergy among various security agencies. “Wittingly or unwittingly, before now, there was a problem between the army, the Air Force, the police and the SSS. “The military hardly took security reports seriously and the efforts of the police were being undermined... We recently got a marching order from Abuja to put our houses in order before it is too late,” he said. The source added that more troops, with advanced warfare training and equipment, have been deployed to volatile areas. “We cannot beat the drum of victory for now, but I can assure you that the bad days are over. The terrorists are now on the defensive, we are taking the war to them,” he said. Some locals in Damboa and Bama local government areas said some of the destroyed Boko Haram camps were becoming sites for tourist attraction. “People are now visiting some of the destroyed camps near Sambisa. There are dead bodies, destroyed vehicles and personal effects of the terrorists all over,” Lawan Mato, a trader in Damboa said.

Iran weapons ship arrives Isreal

A ship allegedly carrying advanced rockets from Iran to Gaza that was intercepted by the Israeli navy was escorted into the Red Sea port of Eilat on Saturday. Israeli naval commandos seized the vessel on Wednesday in the Red Sea between Eritrea and Sudan, with the military saying it was carrying an Iranian shipment of M-302 rockets destined for the Hamas-run Gaza Strip. The Panamanian-flagged Klos-C was escorted into Eilat port by two Israeli warships. Thousands of Israelis gathered on a hill overlooking the port broke into applause when the ship came into view. “We will dismantle all the containers to verify if they contain other weapons,” an army spokesman said, adding that a news conference will be held at the end of operations late on Monday. Israeli radio said that ambassadors and military attaches posted to Israel as well as “prominent Israeli figures” would be invited to view the weapons seized by the army. This, the radio said, “will prove to the world that Iran is providing weapons to terrorists active in the Gaza Strip”. Iran has flatly denied any involvement with the shipment, which the Israeli army said was carrying missiles capable of striking anywhere in Israel. At the time of the vessel’s capture on Wednesday, military spokesman Brigadier General Motti Almoz told army radio that dozens of the M-302 long-range missiles were on board. “From what we understand, it was carrying dozens of M-302 long-range missiles which can reach 150 to 200 kilometres (90-125 miles). It may be carrying other weapons as well, but we can only know this when it reaches Eilat. “There is clear and unequivocal information that this (shipment) came from Iran,” Almoz said, without elaborating. Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif accused Israel of lying and noted that the announcement of its capture coincided with a speech by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the AIPAC pro-Israeli lobby in the United States. “An Iranian ship carrying arms for Gaza. Captured just in time for annual AIPAC anti Iran campaign. Amazing Coincidence! Or same failed lies,” Zarif wrote on Twitter on Thursday. Netanyahu has been pressing the international community to maintain crippling economic sanctions on Iran over its nuclear drive, and used last week’s visit to the US to push his case. The United States said on Wednesday its intelligence services and military worked with Israel to track the ship. White House spokesman Jay Carney said Washington started to work with Israel through intelligence and military channels and at the national security adviser level as soon as it knew the shipment was on the move. World powers have eased the sanctions on Iran as part of a landmark deal struck in November, under which Iran undertook to curb its nuclear activities for six month. The United States, other Western powers and Israel have long suspected Iran of using its nuclear energy programme as a cover for developing atomic weapons, a charge denied by Tehran.

Al-Qaeda kills US Spy

A man accused of being a spy for the United States of America has been shot dead by Al Qaeda militants in Yemen. The unidentified man was executed by a firing squad and his body was hung on a football goal post to serve as a warning to other spies. The victim was said to have placed micro chips in the homes of sect members with the aim of guiding US missiles to them. Daily Mail reports: Security officials say the man was killed on Thursday by a militant firing squad and his body was tied to the goal for public display by the militants. Shocking: The dead man was accused of spying and as punishment for the alleged crimes, was shot in the head by Al-Qaeda militants and strung to the goal as a ‘warning’ An Al Qaeda flier distributed to residents said the execution was in ‘retribution’ for anyone who deals with Americans. The flier claims the man had been placing microchips in cars and safe houses used by al Qaeda members to guide missiles fired by U.S. drones. Al Qaeda wields significant power in some remote areas in southern Yemen, where state authority is almost non-existent. The area is unstable, with government forces and militant rebel groups, with al Qaeda just one, are clashing on a regular basis. The unidentified man was accused of placing microchips in al-Qaeda members’ cars and safe houses to guide missiles fired by U.S. drones An al-Qaeda flier distributed to residents said the execution was in ‘retribution’ for anyone who deals with the Americans.

Governors to Nigerian President; change your statics

EIGHTEEN governors under the aegis of Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum, yesterday, took a critical appraisal of the security situation in the country with the Boko Haram killing and maiming of innocent people almost on a daily basis in the North Eastern part of the country unchallenged. They urged the Federal Government to change its tactics of fighting the insurgents. PDP governors made the appeal on a day President Goodluck Jonathan and Senate President, David Mark called for prayers to overcome the nation’s security challenges. The Nigerian Immigration Service, NIS, on its part, announced that it had set up a new unit, the Border Patrol Corps, to patrol the nation’s land borders, especially in the North-East, to stem attacks by insurgents. This was even as a Senator representing Borno Central Senatorial District claimed that over 100,000 residents of the district had been killed by Boko Haram. The PDP Governors Forum, after its meeting in Minna, Niger State, yesterday, particularly condemned the recent killings of innocent students in Yobe State. The forum, therefore, urged the security agencies to change their tactics towards containing the insurgency. People gather on March 2, 2014 near the wreckage at the scene where two explosions rocked a crowded neigbourhood in Maiduguri’s Gomaris district on the evening of March 1. At least 35 people were killed following two explosions in a crowded neighbourhood of Nigeria’s restless northeastern city of Maiduguri, a stronghold of Boko Haram Islamists, police said March 2. “We are still counting. So far we have counted 35 bodies. Our men are still working with rescue workers at the scene,” Borno state police commissioner Lawal Tanko said. AFP PHOTO / Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum and Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, said though the forum appreciated efforts of the security agencies in containing the crisis so far, it held that there was the need for them to look more inward by changing their tactics in confronting the crisis. He said: “The forum appreciates and commends efforts of the security agencies in fighting the insurgency but we urge them as a matter of urgency to change their tactics to get rid of these insurgents.” The governors then symphatized with parents and families of the innocent children who were murdered in cold blood. On national confab Governor Akpabio, who read the communique shortly after the meeting, said the forum also commended the President on the bold step taken on the national conference coming up soon and urged delegates to the conference to put national interest above their personal desires. The communique said: “This forum strongly identifies with our President on the forthcoming national conference and notes with satisfaction the zeal and enthusiasm shown by Nigerians in participating in the conference. “We urge all delegates to the confab to put national interest above all other considerations during the deliberations.” Governors of Jigawa, Katsina, Benue, Cross River, Abia, Bayelsa, Kogi, Bauchi, Kaduna, Gombe, Ebonyi and that of Niger, the host, were present while Sokoto, Taraba, Adamawa, Delta and Nasarawa were represented by their deputies. Jonathan, Mark call for prayers Meanwhile, President Goodluck Jonathan, weekend, expressed the Federal Government’s readiness to stop the acts of terrorism perpetrated by the Boko Haram sect in the North-Eastern part of the country. The President, who stated this at the 2014 maiden edition of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, CBCN, annual summit with the theme ‘Church and State Partnership in Providing Quality Education for the Nigerian People’ decried the deterioration of values and morals owing to poor educational policies. Jonathan assured on government’s efforts to confront the challenge of insurgency in the country, while urging the gathering to pray for Nigeria to overcome her current problems. He said: “I urge you to pray for our dear country to speedily overcome the current challenges we face, especially insurgency, terrorism and the heinous killings of innocent children in schools.” Speaking further on terrorism and the wanton killing of students in Yobe State, President Jonathan said: “I believe that with your prayers and the strategies we have put in place, we shall surely surmount these challenges.” Senate President, David Mark, in his remark, described the murder of the students as barbaric and condemned “the senseless and gruesome killings by so-called disgruntled elements. “That’s not the way to express grievances,” Mark said, adding that the act of killing students has no justification. Onaiyekan bemoans socio-political crisis: The Catholic Bishop of Abuja, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, in his sermon bemoaned the growing socio-political crisis in the country, calling for concerted efforts to rid Nigeria of many of her troubles. Onaiyekan maintained that “many are the evils in our land: socio-political, corruption in high places, widening economic inequality, insecurity of all kinds, misuse and perversion of religion,” noting that while the problems are numerous, “let us not be afraid to tackle the evil that overwhelm us. Despair and apathy only play into the hands of the evil.” NIS sets up border patrol corps In a related development, the Nigerian Immigration Service said it had set up a new unit to be known as the Border Patrol Corps, dedicated to patrolling the nation’s land borders, especially in the North-East, where the Federal Government recently announced the closure of its land border with Cameroun to stem insurgents attacks. Comptroller General of Immigration Service, David Parrang, while speaking with newsmen, weekend, said additional 500 border control posts will be established within the year as part of measures to reduce the number of illegal entry points from the current figure of 1,400. The CG noted that short of the Ethiopian model of complete fencing of its borders fitted with sensors, prevailing scarce resources was compelling the service to adopt more practical measures to conform with the current funding challenges. On the new border patrol corps, he said: “We are designing a practical way of border patrolling. We went to the Minister of Interior and asked that we develop a Border Patrol Corps and he gave us permission to do so. We are about to launch that border patrol corps. “We need to give that section specific training; we need to give them the border patrol gear that is the dress, the arms, the equipment to ensure they carry out their duties effectively. “We are almost at the concluding stages of that process now. We are going to have the initial border patrol corps of about a thousand staff dedicated totally to border patrol, and after training we deploy them. We are not recruiting a thousand people for border patrolling; we are mopping them up from different units to be able to be part of the border patrol corps.” The Immigration helmsman disclosed that, the border patrol corps would be deployed to additional control posts along the 1,400 illegal entry points, as part of measures to reduce the porosity of Nigerian land borders within the year. We’ve lost over 100,000 people — Zannah Also, Senator Ahmad Zannah Khalifa, representing Borno Central Senatorial District, has said the Boko Haram insurgency in Borno State has claimed over a hundred thousand people of the state while about 20 local government areas were still under the control of the terrorists with the nation’s security helpless in the whole situation. Zannah, who is also vice chairman, Senate Committee on Gas, in an interview in Abuja, however, said the insurgency could be completely eliminated if the Federal Government could recruit a good number of the youths as the civilian Joint Task Force and give them enough training within a short period. He said: “I want them to engage our young men who are willing to die to save their people. Even now they follow the military into the bush sometimes with bathroom slippers, without any protective wear. “If you give them 15 days training, 20 days training, 30 days training even just 1000 of them, even 500 of them, let them go together with the military, they will wipe out the Boko Haram within a month. I assure you that, I have confidence in my constituency, so let the government give us the benefit of doubt. “This is what had happened in Sierra Leone. You know that the Sierra Leonean rebels were cutting the limb of our soldiers, killing our soldiers when we went to restore peace in that country, but by involving the locals, giving them arms they were able to defeat the terrorists within no time, something which the military could not solve in two years but when they involved the locals they were able to accomplish it.”

Where weapons are kept by Islamist sect

You Won’t Believe Where BOKO HARAM Buried The Weapons They Used To Attack The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Azubuike Ihejirika, has said the Army has information that some arms and ammunition were buried in the Apo Cemetery, Abuja, by some Boko Haram members. He said the Army had been unable to locate where they were hidden because the person who hid the weapons was on the run. Gen Ihejirika said the weapons were to be used in an attack on Abuja by the sect earlier this year. The Army Chief spoke yesterday at a public hearing by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on the September 20 killing of eight residents at an uncompleted building in Apo. Security personnel had invaded the house, said to be inhabited by about 100 people, on the claim that the inhabitants were Boko Haram members. Gen Ihejirika, who was represented by the Commander, Brigade of Guards, Maj Gen Emmanuel Atewe, justified the invasion of the house. He said the operation in Apo was informed by a report from the Department of State Security (DSS), alleging an attack by members of the Boko Haram. “Between September 18 and 19, two persons were arrested in Abuja and they made useful confessions that there was a cache of arms hidden at Apo Cemetery to be used in a planned attack,” he said. The Army chief said upon the confession of the suspects, his men went to the cemetery in search of the weapons. “It was in the night, the area was bushy and we could not navigate the cemetery and the suspects could not identify the actual spot where the weapons were buried. “It was at that point the suspects said their leader, one Suleiman, if arrested would show us the spot where the ammunition were hidden,” he said. Gen Atewe, who failed to name the “two suspects,” said they told security agents that Suleiman was living in the Apo uncompleted building. He said they (the suspects) also disclosed that their intention was to launch attacks within Abuja. “It was on that premise that the team moved to the uncompleted building to arrest Suleiman. But unfortunately, as troops were to cordon the building, the fire came, first it was a single shot before rapid followed. Under self defence, the troops returned fire,” he said. “The military operating in FCT are well trained in handling arms and have exercised restraint in the discharge of their duties. We have no reason to kill anybody dastardly or act under provocation. “The adversaries did firearm movement, they were firing as they escaped, a loaded magazine was found and from our records, it does not belong to the military,” he said. Gen Atewe stated that the Apo incident was an isolated case and an unfortunate one. He insisted that the security agents acted proactively to prevent collateral damage that may have resulted from an attack in Abuja. He said despite their efforts, Suleiman was still at large and the cache of arms at the Apo cemetery still undiscovered. “We have carried out 153 operations successfully, made arrests and did not shoot anybody. The NHRC yesterday granted an application by the DSS to have its officials testify in its headquarters to protect their identities. DSS’s lawyer Clifford Osagie and other officials of the service cited security reasons for the application to have the panel move its sitting venue from the NHRC’s Abuja office to DSS’ headquarters. The panel will resume sitting next month.

Confession of an Insurgent

Confessions Of A Captured Insurgent: “Most Boko Haram Members Cannot Leave For Fear Of Being Killed” Malam Bukar Modu, a detained Boko Haram member, said that the sect had nothing to do with Islam, as it was mainly involved in armed banditry, looting and killing of innocent people. Modu, who was captured on Oct. 6 after the sect’s early morning attack on Muslim worshippers in Damboa, Borno, said this in Maiduguri on Saturday. He told newsmen that the sect succeeded in attacking innocent people during their operations. “We went on a mission to attack people in Damboa on Oct. 6, a few days to the last Sallah celebration. “We shot many people but I was also shot in the leg during the operation; I later became unconscious. “My people took me away at the end of the operation but they decided to dump me in a nearby bush because they thought I was dead. “I regained my consciousness in the morning before I was apprehended by security agents, who provided food for me and took care of my bullet wounds,” he said. Modu said that he was recruited into the sect by his cousin about a year ago. “He used to keep his gun in our compound in Maiduguri. One day, he said that he was not comfortable with me being outside the sect because I knew all his secrets. “He gave me two options: to either join the sect or be killed; so, I had no other option than to join the sect”, he said. Modu said that he was given an “express training” on the handling of AK 47 rifle as soon as he joined the sect. “We were always given orders to attack individuals without questioning until we finally relocated to Marte in Marte Local Government Area of Borno during the middle of this year,” he said. Modu said that his group comprised about 150 militants, who took refuge in a nearby bush after the military invasion of Marte camp. “We were kept in the bush by our commanders; sometimes, we survived on filthy water because we did not have access to safe water and we barely had something to eat,” he said. Modu said that most of the “foot soldiers” of the Boko Haram sect had wanted to abscond but they could not do so because of the fear of being caught and executed. “Our commanders usually conduct roll-calls on a daily basis to prevent anybody from running away; once you are caught, the penalty is death”, he said. Modu said that many “foot soldiers”, who tried to escape at the camp, were summarily executed. “Any time we carry out an attack in a place, we steal food, drugs, money and everything we need. “Sometimes, I feel guilty of committing crimes against God but our commanders always tell us that it is God’s work that we are doing. “It is a terrible thing to be a member of the sect but many foot soldiers like me cannot leave for fear of being killed,’’ Modu added

Boko Haram Human Butcher captured

Boko Haram’s ‘Human Butcher’ Captured Nigerian security forces operating with the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) Friday captured suspected terrorists, including one described as “Boko Haram’s lead specialist in human butchery” as they continue their offensive against the insurgents along Nigeria’s border with Chad. A dusk attack by the terrorists in their bid to overrun markets in communities in the outskirts of Monguno and NNPC at New Marte, Borno State along the border with Chad, was also repelled by the MNJTF. The Director of Defence Information (DDI), Maj-Gen Chris Olukolade who disclosed the capture of the “human butcher’ in a statement yesterday added that over 50 assorted brands of grenades and 11 AK 47 rifles were recovered from the fleeing terrorists. He revealed that cordon and search operations are ongoing at the general area while heightened patrols are continuing. Meanwhile, he said, interrogation of captured terrorists from various locations had been yielding useful information as to their mode of operations. “Among those in custody is a lead specialist in butchering human beings who insists he does not use firearms but daggers and cutlasses for his assignment”, he said. In the same vein, Olukolade said that troops on stop and search patrol yesterday afternoon in Maiduguri arrested a man suspected to be a terrorist with an unprimed Improvised Explosive Device (IED), who was undergoing further interrogation as at the time of reporting. The Defence Spokesman further revealed that more assaults and encounters are continuing in other identified locations as intelligence sources confirm the routes being used by the fleeing terrorists. “Troops have been directed to sustain aggressive patrols in certain areas where terrorists’ actions are anticipated,” he added

Drugged and Defiled by the Unknown

Girl Drugged And Defiled By Man She Met On Facebook She claims she met the man on Facebook and both arranged for a friendly date after one month of lovey dovey inbox messages. The man picked her up in a Range rover car and drove to upmarket westlands for a drink. She decided to have red bull since that was their first time of meeting and didn’t want to leave a bad impression. During their date, she excused herself and went to the loo, that was when the man drugged the red bull she was drinking. The girl only remembers being drowsy and someone dragging her to the car. She was half awake but still weak when the man together with other assailants defiled her repeatedly. She lost count of the number of times she was defiled. She only came back to her senses when good samaritans found her in Umoja 2, Kenya in a very bad state. The girl said her v**ina was sore and couldn’t walk properly. She warns females to be very careful about the male friends they meet on Facebook as not all of them have good intentions.

Over 37 NIS officers killed by Boko Haram

Over 37 officers of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), have been killed by the outlawed Boko Haram Islamic Sect, according to David Parradang, Comptroller-General of Immigration (CGI). He disclosed this during an interactive session with journalists at the Service Headquarters, Sauka, Air Port Road, Abuja. Apart from the 37 killed, Parradang said several others have been injured. “We have about 37 Immigration Officers that died as a result of Boko Haram attacks. A lot of them have sustained serious injuries, some were burnt, and with spinal cord broken,” he said. Speaking further, the Immigration boss said that they have stepped up border security in the wake of the upsurge in cross-border terror attacks into Nigeria, with over 1000 staff being trained for special patrol to fish out illegal aliens entering the country. He assured that the NIS in collaboration with other security services were putting up practicable measures to ensure effective control of the porous borders that were constantly being exploited by the foreign elements of Boko Haram Islamic Sect to unleash mayhem in and out of the country. Concerning the closure of Nigeria-Cameroon border, Parradang admitted that manning the large expanse of northern flank of the nation’s international boundary has been problematic with over 1,400 illegal routes. In comparison, he said that Nigeria has a total of 84 Control Posts in a land border of over 4000 kilometers alone in the north, but that plans were being put in place to improve boarder control. “We need to secure our borders. We have the desire, we are committed and determined to secure our borders. We know exactly what to do and we are set out in doing it…we have the resources in doing it. “We need relevant technology to secure our boarder; the technology that are relevant to us and sustainable. “We have designed a border patrol mechanism and training over 1000 staff dedicated purely on boarder patrolling”. “I will like to say that we are very cooperative with all the security agencies in the fight against terrorism. Military has recognised that we have that mandate and respect the fact that we are well trained at identifying foreigners,” he noted.

Malaysia Airlines 'loses contact with plane carrying 239 people' This is not good at all. A Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777-200 carrying 239 people lost contact over the South China Sea on a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, raising fears that the plane might have plunged into the pacific ocean. But that did not stop her from venturing further afield and it would be Nollywood where she tried out her luck next. “ I joined Nollywood two years ago because I was passionate about acting; l have always loved to act. So when the opportunity came; l enrolled in a film school, got trained to be an actress and here l am today”, she said. Between 2012 and now, the ex beauty queen claims to have done over 30 films, after making her debut in “Shotgun” and the rest of the story: What propelled you into joining Nollywood? Actually, I’m just passionate about Nollywood, it’s not like anything pushed me. I love acting a lot, when I was very young, I used to act with pillows, chairs, with virtually everything in the house. I would get a cane and start flogging the chairs and mime like the chairs were crying. How have the challenges been like? It’s been very challenging, especially, when it comes to getting into characters. You have to assume you are the character in the script; you have to put yourself into it. If it’s a romantic role, you put yourself in the character with no strings attached. What was the reaction of your boyfriend when you decided to go into Nollywood? Initially, he was very sceptical about it. He said girls in Nollywood don’t stay in marriages. To me, it depends on individuals; I don’t think it’s true, because so far, some people like Omotola have kept their marriages. But he saw that I was very passionate about it when I went as far as attending an acting school in Lagos. I told him, it’s either he allowed me do my acting or he let me be. So he allowed me do my acting. So what happened; are you still in that relationship? No, we are no longer together. What led to the break-up? The affair didn’t crash because I went into acting. The basic truth is, he doesn’t have money, so I decided to end the relationship. I dumped him in 2013 because he didn’t have much in terms of money and he didn’t have any push as my kind of man.. Are you saying you can’t date a man who doesn’t have money? Of course, if you don’t have money, don’t even bother to call my line, don’t even bother to admire my pictures (Laughs). I love money so much. I can’t marry a poor man. Never! What about a man that is doing a bit okay? I need a rich man; I don’t want a man that is a bit okay. What does money mean to you? Money means a lot to me, in fact, money turns me on. I just need to imagine so much money in my account and I’m turned on. When I get a credit alert on my account, Oh my God, I get turned on immediately. How do you cope with male harassment? It’s not like I’m a very rude person, but I’m blunt and friendly at the same time. But I like rich guys, if you are not rich; I can never be attracted to you. I like rich, clean, fresh guys. When I say rich, I don’t mean ‘Yahoo’ kind of guys, because they are not hardworking. I want a guy who is consistent with his work and rich. Right now, I’m okay where I am, so I don’t think I’ll leave him for any other. What if he gets broke, are you going to dump him? He’s not going to get broke.(Laughs) What qualities attract you to a man? I like men that are caring. You have to be rich, caring, romantic and nice. Some men are rich but stingy. Be rich and be willing to spend the money. If I tell you I need anything, let me get the alert. I like alerts (Laughs). Alerts turn me on. What if he has all the money and he’s not able to meet your sexual needs and makes you feel like a woman? That’s very important also, it’s not just money; he has to be a man down there! What do you mean by ‘ a man down there’? He should be physically endowed and good in bed. He should know how to use it properly, not all men do. Are you in love presently? Yes, I’m in love with the person I’m with now. Is it because he’s rich? Not just because he’s rich, he’s caring, generous and romantic. He’s nice, down-to-earth and humble. Are you ready for marriage now? Yes I am ready. So if he proposes to you, will you accept? Of course I will. What if he doesn’t, will you be heartbroken? No, I won’t. I’ll feel I’m not destined to get married to him. Who is that actor or actress that you’ve dreamt of working with, but you’ve not had the chance to work with? I love Genevieve and I’ll love to work with her. I will also love to work with Omotola and Stephanie Okereke. I’ve always loved to work with Mercy Johnson and by the grace of God; I’ve done some movies with her. She’s very nice, humble and accommodating. She’s motherly and gives one lots of advice.

Mass Exodus hits Northern Nigeria

They move in droves: men, women and children; even the sick and those with bullet wounds. The able bodied ones among them carry what is left of their belongings, especially mats, food stuff and household items. Nursing mothers strap their infants to their back and carry loads on their heads. They trek for days to no destination in particular. All they think of is how to escape insurgency attacks. As they continue the journey, some settle in mosques and churches or any other place considered safe from Boko Haram Islamist group’s assaults. They have become refugees in their own country. This is the situation many residents of Adamawa and Borno states have found themselves following serial attacks by Boko Haram. Almost all the border settlements of Madagali and Michika in Adamawa and Gwoza, Bama, Konduga among others in Borno have been deserted as no single building stands in the communities. The buildings have all been destroyed by insurgents. The number of dead is unknown even as property destroyed cannot be estimated. Villages and communities that are yet to receive the baptism of fire from the insurgents and people that survived attacks in their areas have been on the move. And they are on a journey without destination. Like Madagali and Michika LGAs in Adamawa, it was reliably gathered that thousands of residents have relocated to neighboring Taraba, Gombe, Bauchi, Benue and other states considered safe. Some of the displaced people told Sunday Vanguard that they preferred to remain where the are than to be wiped out by insurgents in their own states. Solomon Tizhe, who hails from Michika, said he lost his wife and four children when insurgents attacked the town last month. Besides, according to him, his supermarket with a stock worth millions of Naira was razed. “So what do you expect me to remain in the area to do? I know this is where I was born and brought up, but how do I start to return there?” He, like many others, spoke in tears. Asked why they could not wait for relief materials from government, Tizhe retorted: “Wait for relief materials when the Boko Haram people are advancing?. We better find a new abode elsewhere.” Meanwhile, all the boarding schools and tertiary institutions in the two local governments of Adamawa have been closed. Their closure followed the latest attack by insurgents on the Federal Government College, Buni Yadi, Yobe.

It was gathered that the security operatives succeeded in repelling them after hours of shooting. They had pursued them from the government house premises into the Independence Layout but only succeeded in arresting three o f the invaders.
